Living with Chickens: Everything You Need to Know to Raise Your Own Backyard Flock

Wanting to get some chickens, but unsure of where to start? This is the book for you!
Living with chickens 2nd addition is a great basic starter guide to chicken keeping and walks you through how to find, house, feed, slaughter and care for your birds in 10 easy to read chapters, and dozens of color photographs.
The author also talks about what to look for when buying at a swap or auction, common health issues, dealing with predators, basic anatomy, and more.
Just about everything you need to get started raising chickens can be found in this book, and it's available at most public libraries.

Errors: I only found 2 minor errors in this book. The chicken on the left of page 42 is in fact a black sexlink, and not an Australorp as the caption says. On page 49 the photo shows a pic of chicken wire, and the caption says '' a ring of chicken wire around the coop and run is essential to keeping predators at bay'' While the author does say on the previous page that chicken wire is not sufficient, and that hardware cloth should be used instead, this a a little missleading.
Overall though I would highly recommend this book.

This book covers just about everything you need to know about keeping chickens. Advice for every chicken keeper, whether you keep them for eggs or meat. Lovely full-colour photographs. The personal stories of the author make the book both interesting and humorous. Keep in mind there's a lot of reading to get through!
