    The Partridge Plymouth rock was first shown in the city of Boston in the year of eighteen forty nine- but the breed was not shown for about another twenty years. In the year of eighteen sixty nine, in Mass, D.A Upham had cross-bred Black Java hens with a rooster of barred plumage of which had a single comb. Upham selective-bred for barring and clean legs. Upham's birds were shown in Worcester- in the year of eighteen sixty nine.
