Pomeranian geese were developed from the Eastern Greylag. This is what causes true Pomeranians to have a pinkish hue to their feet and beaks. They originated in the Pomorze region which is in northern Poland. They were originally thought to be brought to North America by German settlers. The Pomeranian is thought to have helped in the development of many modern day breeds as it is quite an ancient breed dating back to around the year 1500.
