These mats are waterproof and come in other sizes and quantities on Amazon.
I use them under my nesting material. They are secured by pre-drilling and screwing a thin piece of wood over the ends of the mat to hold flat then cover with nesting material. Chopped straw works well. Plug into a thermo-cube to control when they turn on and off.
I have collected eggs that were out all day in temps below 16F.
I collected one night after I got home from work when the temperature was 8F. NO FROZEN EGGS!!
