I have used these in the past. If you live in hot climate, steer clear!!! The water that came out of our spigots even in the shade was scalding, rendering it completely useless during the time it may need it the most. On a concrete foundation, the water pipes run through the attic.

To the contrary pipe freezing climates, also useless.

Moderate climate, MAYBE. Even though we rarely pass 65 degrees the water is still warm on the south side of the house. So I wait until it runs cool before filling water bowls.

It's a GREAT idea! Bad reality. :old

We are in Central Florida. My lines as insulated and buried underground. had these in service for years now. Swine drink without hesitation. Just don't set it and forget it. Like any project, think it out first. Then do it. Keep it out off the sun and they are awesome.

Ya, I saw that and was quite surprised. Guess it depends on your situation. I won't personally be using them, nor can I recommend them. Like you say, with planning you MAY be able to adjust.. but too many other options and this one just doesn't work for ME. :) Burying far enough away from your main line may not be feasible for those who live in the city. Good info though, thanks!

I can see if they are hooked up to my house outlets with the warm water. I tried it for the dogs at first. Especially on the east end of the house. That water was hot! Instead of throwing them out we trenched lines to the agriculture side. Dogs love their bowls. Especially ice cubes! Hehe

We have a bunch of them for our sows and boars. We paid $9.99 retail here in Florida, some of them are 3 years old and no leak drips at all. And are well water aint the prettiest. Well worth the $. Lots of bang for the buck!
