I went with a 2x4, edge up. I've seen my chickens hunker down and keep their feet warm with their feathers, no problem. I'd read about chickens getting a breast blister from their keel bone rubbing on wider roosts, so that's what made me decide to put it narrow side up.
We went to a tractor show today. The "new" tractors were about my age. There were 100+ year old machines there. A thresher, a baler, a steam driven sawmill.
Really cool to see. Also really loud. Wish I'd taken ear plugs.
I think I have a cucumber waiting for me. Tomatoes are just starting. I have 3 on the counter, and I think they'll be ready tomorrow. I've been getting a cucamelon or 3 a day now. Soon it'll be dozens. :)
I pulled up the snap peas, cleaned up the bed, and planted buckwheat there as a cover...
Whatever they had on at Jimmy John's when we were there.
Janis Joplin, anything.
I have never heard any rap or heavy metal that doesn't make me want to turn it off, immediately.
Techno.
We went to a steam/gas tractor show. We saw a steam powered sawmill go through oak logs like butter.
The tractor pull was interesting.
We watched a thresher and a straw baler.
Hubby got a 20 foot piece of chain with hooks on each end for $10 at the flea market. That'll pull logs up the...

The birds, however... got every last cherry before it ripened. :duc:mad:
I weeded two raised beds that are now empty.
I planted buckwheat as a cover crop in those beds.
I did a load of laundry.
I ordered a heated uncapping knife for our next honey harvest. :yesss:
The doc's office called with test results. The total and LDL numbers haven't gone down, but I'm ok with that. I'll get a paper print out in the mail (Gasp! how old fashioned!) and see how the numbers compare to last year.
Another plug for this book:
Your Blood Never Lies: How to Read A Blood...
Hubby is going to a tractor show today. He's going tomorrow too, with his former (and sometimes still) boss, Dan. Dan collects old tractors and restores them. July 4th, 2024, he got them out of his barn and had them in his yard. Hubby took pictures of them.
This isn't all of them.
He said it...
