Oi vey! 🫠 I spent the evening bleaching and spraying alcohol all over my basement utility room. Washed and dried (hot setting) all my clothes and showered twice. My basement will be off limits to my cat for the next month until any I missed die off due to starvation.
Thank you for everyone’s...
I brought my hen to my basement and washed her in the utility sink. I sprayed the area with alcohol after- left for awhile and came back to see there were mites on the air dryer. I resprayed everything with alcohol…. I feel I made a mistake by washing and drying her.
Should I be worried about...
...all bedding (burn it) and spray the coop as well as the chickens- dunking them in the solution being optimal.
My concern is….Im in SW Pa and it’s 50* during the day. Should I bring them into my garage and blow dry them after spraying them down? Should I be worried about them being in my house?
I have sevin dust... Im not sure about permethrine. I will look that up to see if its available near me.
Are those mites I'm seeing? How do I treat with the sevin dust?
I have a 6 year old hen that starting laying down more than normal. I knew something was wrong and checked for all the obvious signs.... well today I discovered it. Her poor vent is inflamed and she has mites or lice- I'm not sure which one as this is my first time dealing with this.
Can...
I've had 2 hens that were bullies over the years... The first hen I was able to correct with pinless peepers. A few years later, my other hen started targeting my lowest in the pecking order (who also happened to be my favorite hen) for no reason. She would jump on her back and relentlessly...
I too spent thousands at the vet- gave her shots and all kinds of things but nothing the vet did really helped. I dealt with it for 5 years every fall. I realized that's just how she molted, so I tried to support her through that with giving her whatever she would eat (usually scrambled eggs...
Thank you!! Placing my order now! I was reading another post about Safe Guard causing possible issues during molt, so I'll go with the Albendazole.
So far I'm only seeing round worms (I've dealt with tape worms before and haven't spotted those)
I'll treat the whole flock but I have the...
My 2 year old Lav Americauna has been broody for weeks and just 2 days came out of it. I was picking up droppings today and she pooped in front of me and I noticed worms! All of my girls are currently molting, if that matters.
Are these round worms? How do I treat? Do I treat the entire flock...
I wouldn’t say her poop has a bad odor- I’d say it almost has a sweet smell to it. (Weird thing to say lol)
I treated with monostat, bum washes, etc. I put a little in her vent and gave her a tiny bit orally. It seemed to help for a few days but now it’s been a couple weeks and she’s back to a...
That's a great sign it felt smaller! Yes, keep doing what you're doing until it's gone.
It can take awhile- so be patient.
What do her droppings look like? Can you post a photo?
Is she molting by chance?
I ask because I had a hen that would get crop issues every time she molted. The food...
You can try feeding her a half- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil then massaging her crop. I would do this 3x a day for several minutes. Massage gently in an upward motion with the pads of your finger tips to try and break up the mass. It especially helpful to do this in the morning before she eats...
Congratulations to everyone! I enjoyed seeing everyone's beautiful gardens & harvests, and connection with nature.
Thank you to the judges and sponsors for putting this together!
