The way things are in the world today I was curious how many sleep with Johnny Roscoe. At our house he sleeps between the box spring and mattress.

Nice Morning Surprise for the Grandkids

7:00 AM today I look out my Daughter's front picture window and there's a fat little button buck vacuming up acorns like M&Ms ten feet out. Drop the Cherrios and hang on the window sill. Nice half hour show for them.

The Coopers Hawk migration has begun. Had two attempts in 3 days. Swing and a miss. These are the poorest air assault hawks I have ever seen. Still the crew is put up in the coop and covered run until about mid October.

Let the 5wk old chicks out in the run for the 1rst time today and doesn't little roo Deleware run up to my RIR 1 yr old roo and drop his head, puff out his hackles and drop his wings and challenge. The RIR looks down in complete aloofness. It's easy to be tough through a layer of turkey wire...

The melody and the words, " for those of us that were never called to be the first at basketball," I can not for the life of me remember her name. The song was basically a lament on the plight of being a plane jane average girl. I had this album back in the '70's and I can still see the cover...

    Too good for this joint

After a day of free range my wife's special needs girl, instead of going into the coop with the rest of the flock, headed out back to the big woods and hasn't been heard of for a month now. The hen had a crooked breast and canted neck, walked with a gimp and never laid. I wanted to cull the...

    Chicken Covey?

When I let the birds out in the morning they are tight together then they explode into flight like a covey of quail. These are RIRs, Dels, and BRs. It's great hearing all those thundering wings. Doesn't take much to make me smile, huh?
