    Question for the Moderators

I joined this group more than a year ago when I started my backyard flock. I've enjoyed the wisdom of so many people and have made several friends both on-line and in person. I have participated in chicken-stock events, swap meets and educational meetings and even legal proceedings that promote...

Homework Project - Egg Laying Related

Hi folks, I'm working on my biology master's degree and have to do a bio-stats project this term. I had the idea of seeing if there is a relationship between egg laying and the amount of natural daylight using stastical analysis. I hoping that I can get some data from from other areas of the...

    Jersey Giants - a question

I'd like to add 2 more birds to my flock of 6 and have decided on JGs. According to the breed section, they are black, white, blue and splash. Are they bred for other colours? Does anyone have any decent pictures? Thanks.

    Moving the Nest Box

I have 2 BSLs that are laying every day in my small coop. The nest box is a carboard box turned sideways, about 18 inches above floor level. I just finished partitioning the garage for a better, bigger, warmer coop for winter. I also have 2 BOs that are nearly ready to lay and have been...

    Advertising Here on BYC

I'm glad to see that the advertising here seems to be tied into where you are located. I was quite happy to see some ads from good businesses right here in my town. I like to support local business as much as possible. However at the risk of offending our Moderators and having this thread...

    Overnight in the Pond?

It's full dark right now and my 5 pekins are still in the pond. They are ~ 5-6 weeks old and love being in the pond. The temp right now is 64' but I don't know how chilly it will get tonight. I don't have to worry about predators except for maybe a roaming cat, so I think that they would be...

    Just Have to Brag

I left my 6-7 week old chicks out in the pen all day and was gone for the evening. Got home just before last light of day and found that the chicks had put them selves to bed. Of course the silly ducklings were huddled outside a mere 5 feet from the coop door.

New Photo Upload - Is This Clear Enough?

Howdy, I hope I get this photo uploaded for you to see. I hope it is clear enough to identify the breed. I'm almost positive that it isn't the Langshans that TSC told me they were. I also think that 2 of the 3 are roos. Any help to ID the breed and sex would be most appreciated. Thanks.
