I really need some advice please.
I've had my flock now for a good few years in steadily increasing numbers. I started with 8 and now have over 40.
Usually I clean my coops (I have 5) every single day. I pick out the poop and add new bedding as needed. My flock is a much loved bunch...
Hey there :)
I have a little 6 week old porcelain sablepoot who is one of a hatch of 12.
She has a deformed foot and I think nerve damage. She doesn't seem to have any feeling in her foot and the knee is at the wrong angle. I can't be certain it wasn't a slip but we use the correct flooring...
I,ve hatched my 1st lot of chicks using a brinsea incubator, all are great except one. One leg is fine, the other is ok to the knee but the ankle is not right. Initially i thought it was an injury during hatching, then i thought maybe riboflavin so she had drops.
She is now 3 weeks old...
I hope you can help.
I've had a very successful hatch for my first time with an incubator and got 12/12 hatch.
All are fine except one little baby who bled a little at birth from his tummy button which is pronounced.
He has remained in the incubator and I have given him sugar water on...
Firstly please forgive my ignorance. I have kept chickens for roughly 3 years and have several breeds and almost 50 beautiful birds.
I have most recently rescued a small flock of Porcelain sablepoots. I have two cockerels and four hens. Because they are relatively rare over here in the UK...
I have a little chicken whom I,ve inherited. I think he/she is around 16-18 weeks.
Hedwig has been picked upon and was underweight so has been receiving lots of tlc and although not out of the woods her/his weight gain is steady.
Today Ive brought Hedwig home indoors as he/she is...
It's all my fault :(
I was slow to move my silkie roo "blizzard" to be with my 'bigger girls' and I think he mounted Mabel who is a bantam black orp and maybe she fell or twisted but I found her laid in the mud unable to get up.
I've bathed her, blown dry her, and she is now sat in my cat...
My little sablepoot roo had scaley leg when I bought him.
I bought a scaley leg product by nettex and followed the directions and for a time they looked much better, the deposits went and all looked like it was going in the right direction.
Periodically I check him and give his legs a...
I,m really feeling lost and very much need a bit of advice.
Long story short I found one of my friends chicks out of its run after being attacked by a rat.

I've rescued this little bundle of feathers. He/she was attacked by a rat 3 or so weeks ago and had puncture wounds and a broken ankle.
We've called her/ him Pudding. Boy or girl it won't matter and he/ she will have a home ;)
Pudding is roughly 13 weeks old but is smaller than he/...
I keep 4 flocks of chickens and have just raised chicks for the first time.
There is a retired chap who keeps chickens not far from me and he has also raised some maran chicks.
When putting my girls and boys to bed tonight I heard the most awful screaming coming from the other end if...
Hi there :)
I have an 8 week old flock of 12 mixed pure breed bantams raised by 2 lovely banty orpingtons.
I have a few roos amongst them and they are already having tussles and squaring up to each other. They are very endearing and I would like to keep them.
At what point do I have to...
I have two broodies both bantam orpingtons (Ginger and Mabel) who have 12 chicks at just over 3 weeks. All the chicks are doing very well.
My problem is that Ginger has spent most of the summer being broody (about a month longer than Mabel) and up to the last week has been a very good mother...
When I bought my 3 sablepoots it was clear flipflop was in a bad way. Me being me I decided to take her anyway thinking her best chance was with us.
Initial examination showed badly pecked feet and neck and an extremely swollen face and eye.
We isolated her and used antiseptic...
This is my first time hatching chicks and I'm desperate to get it right. Any advice would be most welcome :)
I have a mixture of silkie, Australasian, and wyandotte eggs all bantams, under 2 bantam orpingtons who are sat beautifully and who are inseparable. They have approx 2 weeks to...
Hope you might be able to help me please.
I've only been keeping. Chickens about 3/4 months and I have a load of bantams who are all fine. Recently - about 3 weeks ago I rescued 3 "big girls" who were all in a state.
They had suffered from a major mite infestation and their owners...
My name is Shabana and I am very new to chicken keeping.
Currently I have 10 pure breed bantam hens, 3 "big girls" that I rescued, and a small flock of Lemon millefleur sablepoots.
My 2 orpingtons are currently sat on some silkie and andulasian eggs which are due around Aug 17th and...
