My old hen is slowly dieing, how can I help her during her last days?

sounds like she could be egg bound. have you given her warm baths to try & help her get the egg out maybe? i think you can give aspirin to chickens in water, if you google it you can find the dose. you are a good chicken mother worrying about her comfort, she’s lucky you are looking out for her.

no, right ankle is fine, just the bumble which i removed. she is doing better after bumble removal, is walking w/ no limp (has never limped) & is being more sociable. i soaked both feet last night, i guess i’ll keep doing that...?

    teaching ducklings to roost...?

i’ve noticed the ducks are so active at night. i had read about that but didn’t realize how much until they actually moved in. this is why we decided to separate the ducks & chickens, the poor chickens were getting spooked when the ducks would chatter & splash water throughout the night. ducks...

    teaching ducklings to roost...?

op here-i would just like to clarify-i meant ”roost” to describe the act of retiring to a coop to sleep, NOT actually perching on a bar. sorry to confuse terms. i recognize ducks are physically incapable of roosting & am not trying to make them roost, i just want them to go into their coop!

    teaching ducklings to roost...?

i think that is what they do naturally, yes. we live on a farm w/ critters like raccoons etc so i’m concerned about predtors getting them if they just sleep in the grass. i’ve read about people teaching ducks to roost but the only technique i’ve found (bribing them w/ food) isn’t working so i’m...
