    YO GEORGIANS! :)

I am planning on moving back to Georgia in the next few months. I plan on settling somewhere near Athens. Is there anyone from that area who can fill me in on chicken laws in the area, and which communities are the most chicken friendly. Cindy

    Australorps breed Thread

Kurt, I like what your mind's eye sees, that is why I was asking. Your birds have the look I want to achieve. This is only the second year I have been working with the birds that I got from Stan, so I guess I just need some patience. Thank you for your input.

    Australorps breed Thread

Kurt, I have the Tigercreek Australorps too. Are you having problems with the combs? If you were going to introduce either the Urch or Hupp lines to the Tigercreek, which would you choose? I sold almost all my chicks before a coyote got most of my hens, so I am not working with all the...

    Australorps breed Thread

Your cockerels are much more developed than mine at this age. I think I need to increase protein. Sure hope mine look this good in years to come. Thank you everyone for your feedback on my young cockerels, Darwin and Perth. I will keep both of them going for another 6 months and see what I...

    Australorps breed Thread

That is the perfect angle to show off the curves. It would be interesting to see this bird and an Orpington side-by-side to compare the curve. Are you all breeding for very full tails? I don't have a good understanding on what the tails on the pullets and hens should look like.

I adopted a new adult female today, and she is able to fly. It was beautiful to watch. I doubt she will fly off though, as none of my others are good flyers. cindy

    FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Florida, what happened? I can't believe it, I was just over there about a month ago. I will miss her so much. She was a great friend. It is odd, I was hatching some eggs for her, and they just hatched yesterday. It makes me sad that she will never see them. cindy

Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

Andy and Trisha, your discussion has me wondering......do most of the serious breeders keep two flocks going to get the right colors for the males and females. I know some good Orpington and Faverolle breeders do this to get the preferred color. At least until you can get the SOP changed, will...

Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

Andy, I am totally ignorant when it comes to Barnevelders. Please explain your above comments. I take it that the e+ are bad and the eb are good? Will the e+ look like Barnies when they mature? If the e+ chicks aren't worth keeping, I will rehome them right away. They are so cute, I'm sure...

Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

Thanks Andy. Bonnylass I am just down the road from you in Plant City. If we can get some good Barnevelders, we will have to work together to introduce people in our area to these beautiful birds. I had a much better hatch than I expected. All the eggs that made it to the incubator hatched...
