Help with 2 day old Muscovy that has imprinted

Thank you for your reply. I'm trying one last thing. I went out and got one of the other chicks and put them together in the brooder. I'm hoping they will bond and I can return both to momma. He's only 3 days old now so hopefully he has a chance to change things. I've never ran into this...

    Hello with imprinted chick

I have a 2 day old Muscovy that has imprinted. Background, this is the second hatching back to back for two adult momma's sharing the nest. First hatch had probably 20 eggs, only one surviving chick. Too hot temperatures and no moisture I believe was the issue. First time mom's. Mom #2 layed...

    Muscovy duck hatchlings

Two months ago we inherited three muscovies. Turns out two females and one male. Within 30 days we had a nest of eggs and momma sitting. She hatched 13. In the end one was abandoned that couldn't get out of the Shell. I helped it finally and momma wouldn't take it. So I brought it in under a...

Can you keep a broad breasted turkey as a pet?

We have two females that will be 3 in a couple months. The do free range in the day, but have food readily in the coop. They live with the chickens. I love them to death, but they are eating all the chicken eggs. I really don't have a way to seperate them, and I keep thinking any time now they...

What "stage 2" cage do you use before the chicken coop?

We built what we call our chick U.. having fostered preemie babies from the NICU we found the term CHICK U to be appropriate. Under our raised coop we completely closed the the outer sides with the wood covering the upper coop. Then we made a chicken wire door the width of the coop. It's...

    Egg Covered in Yolk

I have had the same thing happen this week twice. I was wondering about it as well. My whole nest was sticky like yellow yolk (4 eggs).. two of the eggs were Easter eggers. So I'm interested in seeing that others with hens about the same age are finding the same. I LOVE THIS SITE! I'M LEARNING...

    Broody hatching

Thanks for all the feed back. It's very encouraging. I decided today to separate her because two of my other hens did in fact lay In the box with her. This particular coop has kitty litter buckets for nests, so I was able to pick the entire bucket up and move her. I placed her in a large dog...

    Broody hatching

Hey there. I'm new to the forums and wondering about hatching eggs under a broody hen. I have an older hen that absolutely insists on being broody. I've tried to break her several times and it never lasts more than a week and she's back on the nest. I do not need more chickens for my coop...
