Is it still in the bag?
There should be a date code on the bottom sewn in strip or on the tag depending on brand. That date code is the mill date.
It is best to use feed before six months past the date on the bag.
If it is more than six months old the nutrients degrade and it is no longer...
I use the non medicated feed.
The medication in medicated is a thiamin blocker. It is not a true medication like an antibiotic would be.....it is safe to eat eggs laid when they are eating it.
I just prefer the non medicated.

Honest to goodness I would be giving them the layer feed. A few days of that is WAY less harmful that trying to mix up human foods to try and balance it.
Straight up it is just 3-4 days of layer feed.....it will not hurt them one bit.
Alternative to yogurt and tuna they can eat a bit of unseasoned cooked chicken. Yes chickens eating chicken.
Do you have plain Cheerios? A tiny bit of that won't hurt them. Kitchen veggie scraps, fruit peels and bits of meat left from dinner are ok too.

While that may be true there are other things that went on too. Those chickens didn't lay as many eggs as todays birds do. They were also often processed for dinner before they got to 3 years old. There were also a lot less pesticides being used so more bugs to find. I could go on and on and on...
