And most recently, I added grapevines to drape over the outer run. There is a roof on the closest run.

Rubbermaid coop... finally up! update 9/11/11 post#56

I faced the large doors out for just that reason. Easy access for cleaning. I too have 2 dog runs attached to the side with a small drop door there. I would definitely do the Rubbermade shed again. With minor modefications it has worked really well for us. Hope you find one reasonable that will...

Rubbermaid coop... finally up! update 9/11/11 post#56

Outer doors are closed & latched at night. The smaller drop door faces into the secure pen. I don't always close it on warm summer nights because many choose to roost out in the secure pen. I've had this set up for 3 years now & it has worked great! No predators have gotten in. Well worth the...

Quote: Good point! Dogs are not a problem, or they haven't been for 30 years (the neighbor's old lab came up one day to "play" and my roo lost his pretty tail feathers... mentioned it to the neighbor and hasn't happened again... and that was 5 years ago)... but yes, coons come around every...

Rubbermaid coop... finally up! update 9/11/11 post#56

Thanks All! I really love it and so do the girls & Remus. I wouldn't do anything differently. As for ventilation, for the Winter months I think it will be fine, with ready placed vents in each end AND it is not air tight (plus a few extra drill-size holes made when I made several "oops"...

"Breeding mutts worsens the poultry hobby for everyone"???

I just call mine "project birds"... and truthfully, I am trying to get a certain type of bird... BUT for every bird that is what I want, I probably have 10 that aren't. ... but you just might need those latent genes. They're my birds and I love 'em.

Rubbermaid coop... finally up! update 9/11/11 post#56

The resin Rubbermaid shed was very forgiving... a few temporary shims and a few I braces & screws and it all pulled together great. I would do this again.
