Week old chick with distended bottom/belly, and lethargy.

UPDATE! So, I can't believe it but about a week or so later, the little one slowly began to be more energetic and finay seemed to be improving. She is now 7 weeks old, amd while she is just a bit smaller than her sister, she is otherwise active and healthy. I still have no idea what exactly...

Thoughts on a split rail fence with wire mesh?

I'm considering the same, however we are cross hatching the structure at corners instead 9f using piles because it is in a heavily wooded area amd it was the only way to work around trees. I also am planning on putting some bird netting as a canopy over the top to keep them in. It has worked...

Week old chick with distended bottom/belly, and lethargy.

I was thinking of trying the Nutri-Drench. She came from a pretty reputable breeder near me. She was hatched on her farm, and I picked her up about a week ago and did a 30 minute drive home. I don't think the trauma came from the trip.

I can try a pix in the a.m. It feels like her insides...not air. So fluid?

Week old chick with distended bottom/belly, and lethargy.

Hi all, I've been keeping chickens since March and so far all my hens are thriving. I have a second batch of chicks that I picked up this past weekend and one of my little ones isn't doing great and would appreciate any insights people may have. From the very afternoon I picked her up, I...

    Lethargic chick, but eating well

Yeah, I figured that is what they are doing and moved it out pretty soon after. She still is not doing great, but not worse either. She came from a farm so there really wasn't much trauma on the way home. 8 hrs later and she is still lethargic. I watched her eat a good bit this afternoon but...

    Lethargic chick, but eating well

I picked up my 2nd batch of chicks today. (2 one week old australorpes, 3 two week old silver laced wynadottes) They are all active and doing well except for 1 of the Australorpes. She is eating okay (not as vigorously as the rest) and wont lay down. She keeps falling asleep while standing and...
