    Inexpensive leg bands needed (2)

We have 3 ISA browns that are about 6 weeks old. We would love to find some super inexpensive leg tags for 2 of them so that we can tell them apart. Any idea where we can find 2?

Is this a pullet or rooster? We purchased this barred rock as a pullet on 3/18/18 (19 days ago)

Is this a pullet or rooster? We purchased this barred rock as a pullet on 3/18/18 (19 days ago), so it's probably 3 weeks old now. It seems to act in charge. Likes to sit on top of the waterer and just doesn't look like our other chicks

    Mad at TSC

I heard this years ago about TSC. They are doing it because of PITA and all the grief that TSC was given by that group. It's really stupid on TSC's part because at our store we often see the chicks discounted to $.59-cents as they get over a week old because no one wants them. They have most of...

    Mad at TSC

TSC and their dumb rules stink! I boycott TSC! We have Family Farm and Home too. They will let you buy just 1 chick if you want!

Can you locate hot and cold in a single wire adapter?

Is there a way to cut the single wire power adapter wire as to separate the hot and cold wires inside? In the second adapter pictured there are 2 wires coming out which would work, but I only have a single wire adapter that I would like to use. Is this possible?

Make your own - No waste - 5 gallon (25# feed) bucket feeder for about $3

I used the schedule 30 PVC 90 degree 3" on my bucket above. I also used a 3" hole saw on the bucket. The hole was so tight that I had to use a file around the edges to open it just enough to force the elbow in. It fits super tight. I can't twist it or move it in any direction hardly, so I...

How to stop chicks from wasting food?

We have some baby chicks that are just over a week old. They sure do love to flip the food around in the brooder and waste it. Our feeder is like what I pictured. Are there any ways to help prevent or slow down the wasted food? Thank you.

Make your own - No waste - 5 gallon (25# feed) bucket feeder for about $3

WOW! I started this thread in October 2013 and now there are 116 pages!!!! I had to get out of chickens in 2014 when a neighbor ratted me out to the township. They made me get rid of my small back yard flock and coop (see my avatar). Well it's 2018 now and my wife wants to do it again on a...

    Help with baby chicks please

It's been 5 years since we had baby chicks and I have forgot everything so I'm asking for some help. We are doing a "backyard chicken" in a residentail area so it's going to be a very small scale. We are getting 3 ISA Brown's. Following are my questions 1. What chick starter should we feed them...

Make your own - No waste - 5 gallon (25# feed) bucket feeder for about $3

@Cluckies How nice of you to say that! I still get email notifications when people quote one of my threads. Unfortunately we did get rid of our outrageously-cool chicken coop shortly after we were told by the township that we couldn't have chickens. We then looked for something we could do...

Make your own - No waste - 5 gallon (25# feed) bucket feeder for about $3

Lowes, Home Depot and Menards all carry 3" PVC. You might have to buy a 4 foot section though and cut it down. If you don't have luck there contact a plumbing company (contractor), they will have 3" for sure!

Automatic Chicken Coop door for only $5 bucks with a radio antenna from a junkyard

Well our chickens and coop are gone. That chapter of our life is over now. The night light was plugged into a timer that turned on each night (and also gave power to close the door). At morning when the timer turned the power off, the light would go off and the door would open.
