They may be. I’ve decided to stop checking for a few weeks. The Roos are quiet so I don’t need to put anyone in freezer camp. They are a joy to watch and I am getting a dozen eggs a day. When I need more I will just ask Forsythe Farms for more chicks.
Thank you. Yes I have done the reading and watched the you tube videos. The vents look like a little round O. I guess they are taking their time to mature. They are almost 9 weeks old.
I am not sure what the sex is of the 8 unknowns, 4 of them are tuxedos, 2 are a solid gold color and 2 are Italians that I think are boys by their feathers (but they have some spots too), but no foam yet. Thank you for letting me know about hens laying sterile eggs, I did not know that. I...
Thank you very much. This makes me feel so much better. I thought there was something wrong with my birds. I have 22 quail 4 males 10 females and 8 ? 2 males crow and I get between 8-12 eggs per day all infertile. I have a light on them so they get 14 hours of light per day.

I too have this question. My quail are 7 weeks old and I have them on deep liter (I want them to have a happy life before I eat them) What do I use to worm the little dinosaurs? (Intestinal parasites sound really icky and I do not want to get them)
There is arsenic in many natural products such as apple seeds. There is also cyanide in stone fruit seeds. Don't eat them :)
Just makes home grown, home prepared even better for us.
Hi everyone,
I am in the process of designing my first quail cage to raise quail for harvest, save the poop for composting, and collecting the eggs easily. What specifics do I need to keep in mind? The cage will be outside with a little roof over it. The winters here are very mild with frost...
My name is Shelly, I taught oceanography for 22 years in a city located in the South Santa Monica Bay. (south of Los Angeles, CA)
I just retired from teaching and have started a garden and now want to raise quail to harvest for meat, poop to compost for my garden, and the eggs will be a bonus.
