I have older Brower Brooders for $50 each. All work fine with recent attractor bulbs and wafer thermostats.
Buy four or more and get the rack they are on. Buy all six and you can have them and the rack for $250.

I just came to check out the thread and see that I'm 175 post behind. I read a few pages but decided against trying to catch up. I'm planning on bringing most everything on my list plus some books and a few other misc items. The things I need to know about are the roost, the wooden nestboxes...

I've done that a few times with no adverse affects that I've noticed. Just make sure that they don't get much medicated chick starter, it can make the males sterile.
