I am mostly a duck guy but I now dabbled on in the world of chickens. It all started when my aunt gifted me 3 female Native Asian chickens and 1 rooster. It is known to be a hardy heritage breed. You can find them in the wild in the Philippines too.
People breed them for both eggs and meat...
I only give antibiotics to the ducklings because it decreased their mortality rate. The adults are getting rice bran, banana trees, moringa and papayas.
Poultry stores never reopened on my area and I can't do online shopping because the quarantine guards are not letting delivery guys go to my town.
In an animal clinic, I found this and this is for cows and goats but it has niacin which is good for my ducks.
Farmer neighbors of mine just...
all of them died. The last one who died have foam in the mouth. I change their vitamin water every 3 hours to make sure it wont spoil so I think the cause of death is the bedding. This is the first time I have ducks eat bedding. My adult ducks don't eat the rice husk bedding.
They don't, they are being hand raised inside a box. I was thinking it could be the pinioning but They are pinioned a week ago and they were pretty much normal on their first week. It is their 9th day when they start acting weak.
I have 2 new 1 week old ducklings who are weak right now. it's not niacin deficiency because their water have multivitamins and water on it. They don't want to eat. I suspect they ate the rice husk bedding and they got indigestion. Usually I feed them chick booster and they use to eat it like...
Poultry stores are closed in my Area due to lockdown and online shopping is impossible due to lockdown. The only grocery food I can feed them are cat food, dog food, rice and oats. I am compensating with what is available.

I have a 5 week old duckling who became Niacin deficiency. tried saving it by giving it niacin water and Polyvisol shot. The poor thing is almost vegetable, Can't walk and eat but can stand for few seconds. It has a wry neck too. I give it water and Poly Vi Sol drops. Should I give up? I...
A 4 week old muscovy of mine ends up having Niacin deficiency. It doesn't want to eat and drink. It can stand and walk but it prefers to sleep. due to lockdown I can by poultry supplies. I use Polyvisol to give it source of niacin and vitamins. I see improvements but it is still weak. It...
Update, Only four of them are left. They are bigger now. from six they dropped to 4. 2 died of niacin deficiency. The survivors got niacin now because I feed them beef.
I plan to use my older female ducks as incubator for geese eggs because my geese are terrible mothers. Yes older females lays less eggs but they work well as surrogate mothers.
Every two month I trim the feathers of my ducks and geese, I didn't realized that one of my geese girls had manage to evade regular haircuts for a long time. She flew and my neighbor found her on the kindergarten school on the street. The neighbor recognized my goose and returned her to me. I...
