the "white" part of the egg was reddish (looked tinged with blood)

Thanks! These posts were helpful. I think I have narrowed it down to one of two girls. I am ust keeping an eye on them and making sure all is well. Also reminding my daughter to be very careful with handling. Definitely now cracking eggs in a separate container!

    Cochin

Chickens usually do slow or even stop egg production in the winter. This is based on the daylight hours, predominately.

the "white" part of the egg was reddish (looked tinged with blood)

I have 5 pullets (~6 months old), all are laying and all the eggs have looked fine until one day I cracked one egg and the "white" part of the egg was reddish (looked tinged with blood). This was not streaked, but a uniform red color. Needless to say, I did not use that egg (just looked...

    New Egg without shell

Hard to tell, but likely got down off of roost to lay it. Are you giving them calcium (like the products you find in the feed store - oyster shells, etc). May be a good idea as that promotes good egg shells. Probably just a fluke, and she will start laying more normally.

Thanks, my husband is a perfectionist. It is sturdy, though, so no complaints here!

Help? 4 Wk Silkie w/ith stunted growth, watery eyes, & sleeping a lot. UPDTED: Added Video & PICS

This is my question too. Is she a "runt" low on the pecking order? I am wondering if my pullet was like that (she is one of the smaller ones) and she just did not get enough extra nutrition. Not sure. The supplements did seem to work. Good luck, and if I hear when they are good to go back to the...

UPDATE (Good news) HELP chicken pullet cannot stand

So, everyone, this is my pullet, now STANDING and WALKING! She is eating her food, so do not worry, she can raise her head just fine. She only has a slight list to the left, but that seems to be improving rapidly! Thanks! Depending on her recovery (want to have her as normal as possible) I want...

    Crooked neck Dominique

This may be a vitamin deficieny, often called wry neck, I believe. You can get supplements for the water. I think vitamin B is what is lacking.

    Rabbit losing weight

Agree with the post above. Hvae his teeth checked. I was talking to a vet the other day and she was telling me about rabbit teeth (we were cutting rat teeth at the time). Since I have a pet rabbit, I perked up and listitened. She said that their teeth can over grow and you never notice it...

Coop deVille My husband has been fabricating our new chicken coop/tractor. I am impressed!

LOL! Yes, he likes to weld (auto body tech) and hates working with wood. He also is a perfectionist! I will certainly post pictures as it progresses. Maybe he was thinking like the Alaskan that he is and making sure no Kodiak brown bears would be able to get in (of course we are now in NC in the...

UPDATE (Good news) HELP chicken pullet cannot stand

Thanks. Yes, I have been supporting her and also moving her legs around. She is not so contorted now and that helps a great deal as she was not able to balance at all when she was twisted a bit to the right. She really desires to walk. I will keep working with her and I am still impressed with...
