Holy cow did I get a lot done today! Took a couple pics. The garden, sad but not buried anymore! The whole flock, together (sort of), finally. I caught them roosting on a branch together. & not much left of the snow piles! :celebrate

I get my safflower seeds at TS, it's not too bad price wise. More expensive than the standard stuff, but not by that much.

@BReeder! I resorted to feeding safflower seeds & thistle because the squirrels & crows don't bother with them. It's so much more peaceful at the feeder. The chippies do like the safflower but a baffle keeps them out (but not the squirrels, they're resourceful little critters).

Ohhh, @Wee Farmer Sarah that sounds like fun! I have COVID fatigue. I'm very sick of it. On top of it I have early spring fever. If I lived a little closer I'd beg you to let me come with you. :gig I would love before & after pics of the cabinets! I painted the cabinets in my old house...

@Wee Farmer Sarah I haven't seen the chippies out here yet! I'm guessing soon then if you have. Are you painting the kitchen cabinets yourself? Do you have a plan on how you're going to do it? As I've told you, DH wants to replace the cabinets here, I want to try & paint them first...

We had an earthquake here in CT today too. I didn't feel it, it was small & I think I was sleeping. @Wee Farmer Sarah thank you, I think I'm going to try the plastic for the row tunnel & my lettuce. Maybe get that going in the next couple weeks & see how it does. :idunno

Morning all. It's cold & super windy out there & supposed to be like that through the weekend. Hopefully next week will warm up & melt the snow! I'm going to start my seeds next weekend too. Planning to enjoy my day off today, the plan is to do nothing but collect eggs! :yesss:

I'm glad to hear lids should be showing up again this summer. @NewBoots I need to plant some more rosemary too, my big plant that is like 20 years old just isn't doing too well anymore, it's just had it. I think I'll take some cuttings from it & start over & get some new dirt in that pot...

It stresses me out that the lids are so hard to get! I'm thinking I have enough for this year, hopefully supplies catch up soon tho.

You can make it any height & shape you want by pruning. Mine is probably 4.5 feet tall (including the pot) which is the perfect height to fit through the doors. I keep it on a rolling plant stand thingie, it goes outside in the spring & in an unheated, dark room in the house for the winter so...

Has anyone grown anything in a straw bale? I have one that I used as a wind/snow block for the chickens for the winter. I don't need it & was thinking instead of it going to waste I could grow some squash in it away from the garden! Thoughts?
