    Sick chicken please help

Thank you so much to everyone who helped with Red, this morning I got answers. An xray was done. The vet said it looked like a tumor and fluid. I chose to have her euthanize an end her suffering. The vet did a necropsy. Red had cancer with secondary egg yolk Peritonitis. That means she had a...

    Sick chicken please help

Egg yolk Peritonitis! That is what someone said in beginning, let see, I think there was a link from eggscessive. Vet did feel a lump. If it’s that maybe be treatable. I will read now. I sure wish the vet gave me answer but I can’t seem to find a vet that deals with chickens! I should be paying...

    Sick chicken please help

Thank you. When I respond to this doesn’t it respond to everyone? A tiny glimmer of hope tonight. I noticed yesterday she kept going to the corner of the cage leaning against the bars, so put blanket rolls in her cage. All day she has kept herself up against this roll or the one on the...

Can someone please tell me the name of the pain med to ask for tomorrow? Also, if it is Mareks, how long can this go on, I only got about 10...

    Sick chicken please help

I asked him if it could be egg bound and he said no, not after this long. I noticed her symptoms Sept. 29th. He said if it was egg bound she would have died by now, his words. He also said it felt too small to be egg bound. Now I wish he had did an x-Ray bc here I am rethinking everything. I am...

    Sick chicken please help

I couldn’t do it myself but I am going to call Monday . I think you are all correct. I think it’s Mareks. The vet didn’t even mention that, he just felt a tumor and said probably cancer. He said he honestly rarely sees chickens. I think with her inability to keep upright and have wing control...

    Sick chicken please help

Yes. I think you are exactly correct. I think it is Mareks. Especially the way she can’t seem to support her body and have wing control. I will call the vet Monday about euthanizing, bc I’m told this doesn’t get better? How would she have gotten this, she is 3. Are the other chickens at risk...

Extremely sick chick, syringe feeding-- how much and how often?

I’m sorry but 2 1/2 days in a box, no food, water and heat? How is that even legal, so cruel and unethical. Do you have a store next to you that sells them? If I knew we were in close vicinity I would bring you some no charge, my hens always go broody. Best wishes for their recovery, poor babies.

Today I used a syringe and got about 10 ml in, 2 mls every couple of hours. She does seem stronger today and...
