My sapphire Oliver egger, Saphira, laid a monster 3.2oz egg today. Both Saphira and Jade lay large browns, but Saphira laid a whopper this morning. Why brown, well I got both chickens with the 5% chance of brown. I love them though lol.
The green egg is from my Starlight green egger, Freya...
I have a young girl, 20-ish weeks. She's been laying for a couple of weeks now. She's an aquila, she's given us a couple double yolk eggs. Last night at almost dark my husband went out to the run and watched her lay this:
She has access to oyster shell, and organic layer feed. What else can I do?
I've had double yolkers, but never three. The egg was huge. Got me wondering if anyone has ever successfully hatched twins or triplets? Seems it would be impossible but then, we do live in a strange world 😉
...a 3rd one. I know as far as doubles most don't even make it to day 10. So this one I am not holding my breath on, but if it does develop I will get an eggtopsy photo of 3 yolks later. If it is not fertile, then I will get a tripleyolk photo out of it.
(Egg is from a local farm, not from my...
One of my olive eggers has been laying eggs bigger then my ducks! They all have been tripleyolk. Today the egg was almost double the size of a duck egg and was cracked so I gave it to the ladies.
Hello everyone,
One of our younger hens (6mo) has been laying for about a month, and is routinely laying double-yolk eggs. As of now, about 75% of her eggs have been doubles, and 25% have been singles. There was one instance where she laid a triple-yolker.
We have had chickens for over four...
...have four hens. Only one is laying, but she’s giving us 5 eggs a week on average. The weird thing is, they’re all either double or TRIPLEyolks. I hear double is pretty common, especially when they haven’t been laying long... but I’m hearing this tripleyolk thing is rare, and it happens...
One of our EE layed a very oversized egg the other day. You could tell she struggled with it...lol We cracked it opened this evening and found 3 yolks. I knew about double yolkers, but not triple. Just thought I'd share.:D
I have a 4 + year old Rhode Island Red that has been laying double yolkers for a while now & just started laying her first triple. I have never heard of one. How about y'all
My Cornish Rock's first eggs... soft shell. They are on layer feed now and have had free access to oyster shell, so I think she's hopefully just sorting out the kinks in her system. The other bird is laying hard shell, but small eggs.
I knew it was gonna have more than one the day she laid it.
She's a fairly new layer. 6 month old easter egger.
I never expected 3!!!!!
My husband was so bummed that he broke one cracking it.
Was shocked to crack an egg and discover a tripleyolker, followed by THREE SETS of doubles!! These were from our old lady (3 yrs) RIR hen, who until now has only produced single yolks! We were amazed...do these multiple yolks happen often?? Thanks!
I used to breed La Bresse Gauloise chickens, and i was pleasantly surprised to get tripleyolked eggs not only once .... but four times, at first i thought i was seeing things and nobody would believe me, the next time i saw one i made sure i showed it around. I am wondering if anyone else has...
I pulled a huge egg from the nesting box earlier this week. Turned out to be a tripleyolk. The next morning one of my 2 year old RIR's was dead in the run. No external injuries or anything. The chicken appeared to be in good health. What is the likelihood that this was the chicken that...
I was checking to see how big some of your eggs have been. Thought my 124 gms was bigg but .. good job to those girls. Now wondering I had a tripleyolk egg any one have triple or more yolks. My girl is a Rhode Island/Leghorn x.
I just had to post this...yesterday I collected an egg that was 3 times the size of what I have been collecting. I didn't really think much about it and then this morning I cracked the egg for breakfast and WOWZER!!! 3 yolks!! I couldn't believe what I was seeing! I didn't take a pic of the egg...
