Late hatch! Chicks weak, unabsorbed yoke sacs

Well my experience is that if the yolk is still real big it will probably die. If it is already mostly absorbed it should be fine. 80% humidity is high and the chicks won't dry very fast. There are a lot of reasons why they dont hatch. Some say dont help them hatch because they need to go...

    Two dead hens????

I have had chickens for a year now with no problems until the last few months. We set up a new coop for more chickens and they are fine. But the ones I've had for a year are dropping like flies. Tonight we had to put down my favorite hen. We went to gather the eggs tonight and my children came...

What is inside your small coop? Any pics?

With only four chickens you should only need one roost bar and it doesn't have to be big. We have 8 in one coop with four nesting boxes and two roost. They only use two of the nesting boxes and they all cram on to one roost. Probably one or two nesting boxes should be plenty. You can always look...

Will a Roo fertilize all eggs or just his own breed?

He should fertilize all eggs. One he grows up he will be more than happy to fertilize. My amerucana does.

Getting some new chicks and have a heating question

The only thing is you don't want it too hot. You also need to think about food and water if it will be a few hours. Make sure you have a thermometer so you can keep an eye on the temp.
