Duke and Daisy Duck, cold and wet (Muscovies)

Thank you everybody so much for all of your help and advice on any of my threads. Being a first-time duck Mama to two muscovies has been awesome but I definitely have a lot to learn still and it has been extremely beneficial to have a place to come to to get advice and experience stories from...

Duke and Daisy Duck, cold and wet (Muscovies)

I do not believe they've done their yearly molting. Do they lose all their feathers at once? Something I will obviously know when it happens? Does it usually happen this season? They just turned 7 months old November 21st. With a little bit of research I also read about the cat food and I gave...

Duke and Daisy Duck, cold and wet (Muscovies)

At night they only get a bowl big enough to dunk their beaks in but sometimes they step on it and dump it over. they are in the chicken coop with the chickens but they have their own bed at night that they get put into, a large crate. I am in the process of building them a bigger house so that...

Duke and Daisy Duck, cold and wet (Muscovies)

My babies haven't been feeling very good on and off for the last couple days. Today was the second day this week that they had a hard time repelling water and look drenched and were shivering so I brought them in the trailer, set them up with puppy pads and a heater while I got their duck house...

    Awesome job Daisy! (Muscovy)

I do not have a scale yet but I will be getting one soon. I was wondering about that finding out if it was a double yolk and possibly finding out if both yolks were fertilized? If she sits on it I'll let her keep that one if it's fertilized twins would be so cool I don't even know if that's...

    Awesome job Daisy! (Muscovy)

I have not been weighing the eggs yet, but I will make it a point to check that out today sounds interesting to compare. What I find strange is today, egg number 8 is back down to the size of the other ones almost. I thought that was strange after laying one huge one...could the smaller ones...

Daisy duck (Muscovy) will she sit on her first clutch this late in the season

Wow I guess so! Her first six eggs we're not a whole lot bigger than chicken eggs so I didn't expect the egg that I found this morning!! Holy moly it's huge LOL It was cute she's laying for 3 days in a row then taking a day off it seems. Lol Laid an egg 3 days in a row and took day 4 off,then...

    Awesome job Daisy! (Muscovy)

Being a first-time duck owner to my two muscovies my little girl started laying eggs on veterans Day. I got some advice that the first few eggs would be smaller with more shell. Well her first six eggs weren't much bigger than a chicken egg but she is tiny so I figured they wouldn't get too much...

Daisy duck (Muscovy) will she sit on her first clutch this late in the season

Miss Daisy duck has been doing great? after laying her first egg on veterans Day I did leave the eggs in her nest for the first 3 days, but then before I got advice I washed the three eggs and she actually held her egg from me on the 4th day. Lol so after other advice I put a chicken egg in her...

Daisy duck (Muscovy) will she sit on her first clutch this late in the season

Thank you for that. I did hear that the first eggs will be smaller since it's her first batch but I didn't know about it having the same amount of shell and harder to hatch. ❤️

Daisy duck (Muscovy) will she sit on her first clutch this late in the season

Ends up a lady at church has a whole bunch of muscovies and she said her females will sit on them at this time of year where we are located but sometimes they won't. Apparently the mother uses discretion about food sources and cold weather.

I am short so he's going to look bigger in my arms, but these pictures of me holding him were taken back in July and he's grown a lot since then!!

    Bad Momma duck lol

Maybe not 22lbs but pretty sure he's over 10 lb and I only say that because my cat is 10 lb and he is quite a bit bigger than my cat and definitely feels at least double in weight when I pick the two up.
