    Lethargic Girl

Sad that it happened and I wasn't able to help. Lost her Saturday evening or early Sunday morning. :(

    Possibly eggbound hen? Help!

Thanks for your input. I think my little girl was a bit underweight. Didn't check for an egg. Maybe I should have but I kept thinking I'd feel it on the outside somewhere. Maybe not. Doesn't matter now as I lost her Saturday night or early Sunday morning. I'm very sad I couldn't figure out...

    Possibly eggbound hen? Help!

Hope your girl is ok! I've got one too that I'm concerned with similarly. She wouldn't roost tonight. I put her up there and she ended up falling off. :( Brought her into our front garage that has heated floors and she's just standing there in the middle of the tote (has straw on the bottom...

    Lethargic Girl

Yes, her comb seems dry and dull. She is the one who likes the 'window seat' at night and even though by chicken's standards it's not a bad temp in the coop, I'm sure it's colder by the window and we had a couple of almost zero temps nights outside. I just went outside a bit ago and gave her...

More Info on Hen not acting right

Didn't know whether to start a new thread or add to my original but decided to start new one. Have a 9 month old Olive Egger who just isn't quite right. She's been hanging on the outside of the flock just acting like she's not feeling well but I can't totally seem to find anything exactly...

    Lethargic Girl

Well I gave her a fairly good looking over. Not seeing anything unusual. She looks pretty clean. Not losing feathers or very little as that's not noticeable at all. Not totally sure how to check her crop although I just watched a YouTube video on it. I feed them organic crumbles and...

    Lethargic Girl

Just have been noticing one of my Olive Eggers just not seeming up to par. She is the one that had a hurt leg quite awhile ago but has since seemed fine but I have been noticing her just kind of staying on the outside of things and just not perky at all. Last couple of days she has been...

    Winterizing Run

I am in NE Ohio and we can have pretty good snows at times. Just depends on the winters.

    Automatic Doors

This summer I was finally able to attach our coop to the run! So much nicer and we ended up getting an automatic door too which was nice "while it worked". :barnie The door fixture was put in the wall behind where the nesting boxes are hung and it's basically the only wall that will work for...

    Rocks in the run

We left rocks in an area that we thought might collect moisture (like 3/4 to 1 inch) and I've been amazed that they dig right through them!! In fact, they've tipped the run a bit with their digging. Sometimes I think they are trying to tunnel out!! :D

    Blood again??

Didn't take pictures this morning but I'll check tomorrow. What I saw this morning though was a bright red drop......just looked like blood. Not sure we have a vet that would do this testing or not around here. They are acting just fine and eating normally.

    Blood again??

Well I'm not sure which one is doing it but I have 2 Australorps, 2 Sapphire Oliver Eggers, 1 Golden Wyandotte, 2 Easter Eggers that are 7 months old.

    Blood again??

So I had an issue a couple of months ago with blood in their droppings. I treated them with the Corridin for two weeks and it seemed almost right away after that, that it happened again so I gave them another two week round of it. Just put them back on regular water with ACV in it just the...

    Winterizing Run

I've been missing some of these comments. Still haven't done anything yet and the next couple of days are suppose to be cooler and rainy. Really would like to do something with the roof to let light in too as the chickens are on the north side of the building so the sun gets blocked. Works ok...

    Winterizing Run

Looks interesting and I see they have a 20 mil clear tarp too that's a bit less expensive but sounds almost as durable as the 30 mil. Thank you!! Could probably do just the side that faces toward the house for that matter. Things to consider.......

    Bad Mommy......

Went to put the girls to bed tonight and shut their door and put their feeder away and realized their waterer was empty and I have NO idea when that happened. It was almost dark but went and filled the waterer up and held it up to them on their roost. They were drinking like there was...

    Winterizing Run

Thanks for your input. I have an Omlet run right now with a tent like material roof on top that we added on. Works good for shading overhead for the summer but run is on the north side and there have been times I wished it let the sunlight in just for the warmth factor in the winter.
