    Frizzle Bantams

Can someone show me a picture of a day old Frizzle Bantam? How do you tell if it will have very frizzly hair? Feathers?? I'm told that doesn't happen all of the time.

    3 broody hens, one coop

Oh, ok. Well, I don't have any harems goin' on in my coops. I have flower children (ie: chickens), living on a commune, sharing everything. And I do mean, everything!

    3 broody hens, one coop

And, what is a "harem master"? Never heard that one in relation to chickens. Maybe on line games!!

    3 broody hens, one coop

Yeah, I'm sure I will be just like a mother hen when they have finally hatched out...out there all the time, checking to see that no one hen is getting jealous or bossy. More space is a great idea.

    3 broody hens, one coop

Thanks Sue25. Temperament of the hens would make a huge difference in the outcome of raising broods together in the same coop. Makes sense.

    3 broody hens, one coop

Ok, so three hens went broody within a week of each other. (Their first batch of eggs was eaten by snakes within two days of being hatched. GRRRRRRRRRRRR. Killed one snake, but the other survived and since has eaten a couple more. But that story is for another forum.) My questions regard...

    Inflatable Dancing Tube

Something was getting my flock, so I sat out in the pen all day yesterday to catch the vermin. It was a rather large coyote. Didn't catch or injure it, but scared him/her off. Anyway, I was thinking about investing in one of those floppy inflatable dancing tube characters. Has anyone done...

anyone heard of a chicken with cowlicks?

Hahaha. Yeah, me too...Cowlicks. Not sure which term I like best, or least...Cowlicks or frizzle.

anyone heard of a chicken with cowlicks?

There are no frizzles in the eggs that I gathered. There are Americanas, EEs, RIR, Marins, and mixes. Not a frizzed hair on any of them.

anyone heard of a chicken with cowlicks?

I have a 5 week old chick that has produced feathers like all other feathers, flat against their backs, wings, etc., EXCEPT for the shoulders. At both shoulders the feathers protrude at all angles and some are a little curly, sort of like s frizzle. It looks like cowlicks! Has anyone...

    egg yolks

Nope. Haven't fed them anything extra or with cottonseed oil, and I don't think there is any shepards purse in my pasture. I'm in Texas and it is hot and dry and nothing is growing! Not even weeds. Oh, I have fed them cantaloupe rinds on occasion, but I don't think that would cause this...

    egg yolks

I can't seem to find an answer for this, so I'll post it here and others can tell me where to go. I have cracked open two eggs now and find a greenish yolk inside. It doesn't smell bad. I fed my dog the first one and he was fine. I threw out the next one because it was even a darker, more...

how to hook up a pc fan to an incubator

Thanks. They are due to hatch in four days. I only put in 7 eggs, three were not fertilized, two died approx. one week into the hatching, so I have two little bitty chicks and we shall see. I plan on placing them under their broody mother once I hear peeping. Fingers crossed.

how to hook up a pc fan to an incubator

OH, and I used a 5 volt cell phone charger, cause the fan was 5 volt. I asked him if he could hook it up directly to the incubator, as the ones are done with the kit, but there was some snaffu about that....can't remember now.

how to hook up a pc fan to an incubator

I got mine finished just in time to incubate some silkie eggs. It works just fine. I happened to have a very savvy electronics geek neighbor who loves to do things like this and he had it done within a couple of hours. Ok...I cheated, having someone else do it!
