We did not realize it was necessary for proper laying, we understood oyster shell was only for viable (hatching) eggs. As we are not interested in anymore chicks we have not been feed it for a few months. Looks like we need to start feeding oyster shell again. Thanks for the kind thoughts and...
She appears to be better, but not really 100%... I did find another soft egg this morning, so hopefully that was the problem (what you said) and she will be back to her ole bratty self soon. LOL :) Thanks again for all the help!!
She is 2 years old, ate this morning (didn't pay attention to how much), pooped not sure. As far as eggs not sure as we have 9 hens and they lay all over our property and when we see eggs we destroy them as we DON'T need anymore peafowl so some of the eggs we got rid of might have been hers.
We have a peahen that has been acting different today. She has been staying next to the front door, panting, keeps her butt in the air and her eyes don't look right almost as if they are a bit sunken and she keeps blinking. She is not interested in water or food. I just a discovered an egg...
i so hope she is on eggs, cuz i really love those two. they are like puppies, they follow us all around the property and stay by the house when we are inside. unfortunately they have not shown up yet, so it's not looking good. =[
thanks again for all and any info.

At what age do poults start laying eggs?????????????? We have 2 - 5 month old turkeys (male and female) and as of the past couple days they are not around in the morning but do show up later. It just came to me that she might be on eggs. Any info would be appreciated.
I had a sick Guinea fowl and duckling (different illnesses) and gave them some VetRx. They got better within a day or two. This stuff is amazing!!!
BTW, we had a wild turkey hen who had a nest on our property and when my husband was clearing (for fire season) he came across it. I took five...
We have adult peafowl and guineafowl and now have 10-5 week old ducklings and 4-6 week old turkey poults. The question I have is, what is a good age to release the babies from their cages????
Thank you for your time and help in advance. =]
I am so glad I found this post... We adopted two Muscovy hens Saturday and have been concerned because they have not been eating what I put out, (which is the same food our Cayuga eats). BTW, they are in a temporary pen till they are used to their new surroundings, so they are not running...
