Oh my gosh!! I am overjoyed!! I was thinking that it was a Hemadora but I didn't think GFF would do that to me unknowingly. How cute! I just had to give away my Silkies and have been heartbroken.. But I am so happy now! Thank you!! Svarthona's are so sweet! I haven't really spent that much time...
Hi, I have a Svart Hona that purchased from Greenfire Farms and for some reason, he/she does not have feathers but has down. It sort of looks like a Hedemora but Greenfire Farms assures me he/she is a Svart Hona! Anybody else go through the same problem?
Hmm, well all of mine that are 5 days old all have flat combs right now. Many of them aren't though. I have 3 Orust's, 2 Svart Hona's, a Lyonnaise, 2 Lemon East Frisian Gulls, 2 White Pavlovskaya's, 2 Marsh Daisies, a Bielefelder, 4 Swedish Flower Hens, 2 Cream Legbars.
Two days ago, I lost two Svart Hona chicks.. It was so sudden! They were fine the night before and the morning of.. but when I checked in the afternoon, two were dead. Today, the same thing happened.. two passed - both Svart Hona's. Then I noticed one of my Swedish Flower Hens...
Actually, all my chicks are 6 days and all of them have flat areas. The one's that are a bit older have combs. I think it takes at least a week to two for combs to start to develop. I also googled pictures of chicks and it seems that very young ones are all flat.
I'm not that experienced, so I have no idea. They still haven't developed combs yet so I can't tell!
Yeah ): They actually ended up giving me extra's.. These three are not even on the list of what I was supposed to get. They're completely mystery chicks!
And although they're great - they really...
Hmm! Maybe! Greenfire Farms don't have Welsummers on their website but I can see the relation.
All three of them have a that black little line on their faces though.
The other two have more black on their faces. I'll try to get some pictures!
Hi everyone! So I won these chicks from an auction from Greenfire Farms.
I was sent a list of all possible chicks but counted three extra. I have no idea what these three can be.
The breeds that I received were: a Silver Spitzhauben, 3 Orusts, 4 Svart Hona's, a Marsh Daisy, 2 East Frisian...
Sadly, today one of my Svart Hona's chick died and the other one is very, very weak. I have no idea what's going on! Still, two out of 32 is pretty good.
Well, I also lost a SFH so technically, three dead out of 32 is pretty good. I think some chicks are just weaker than others. It's sad really...
I'm so sorry that I cannot answer your questions ):
I am also very curious about how frequent they lay, what color the eggs are, how large the eggs are, and their temperament!
Greenfire Farms hasn't released any information yet.. only that these gorgeous birds lay until the death!
I've been following Greenfire Farms on Facebook ever since I won two auctions from them for 12 rare breed assorted chicks.
I'm just completely in love with them, as they sent me extra's and ALL the chicks survived! I'm in southern California and of course, GFF is in Florida
I'd like to update!
First, I'd like to say that I live in Southern California and GFF is of course, on the opposite side of the country in Florida.
By now, I've won two auctions.
The first auction, I won 12 random assorted chicks - Josette, was a sweetheart and sent me 16.
In total, I...
Thank you! I hope so too! Of course, I don't mind keeping them.. but I just have so many breeds right now! I literally have 28 chicks now, after selling 3 Cream Legbars and a Swedish Flower Hen next week. With these two gone, it'll be 26! Really hope someone can give them a good home.. they're...
Here are pictures of them that I just took!
^ Luckily, my little sister was there to put her hand under this little mischievous one right away and catch it's little gift to us.
I'm going to try to get a picture of the inside of their beak but don't want to traumatize them. They are...
