    Worried

Would you mind sharing exactly what you recommend. I was looking on Amazon, and I mostly read reviews before purchasing anything, but I would also appreciate your input. I’m also very sorry for your losses... ☹️

    Worried

So far my dog being out has done the trick. This morning just took me by surprise. Thankfully he’s good around my girls. But I will be looking into ways for them to hide and take cover. I’m not ready for losses yet!

    Random eggs outside of coop

So, every now and again, I’ll find a lone egg in my run. Once, it looked like someone might have pecked it open. Yesterday, it was just there on the ground by the waterer. How in the world is it ending up outside of the coop that is off the ground??

    Worried

Looked out the window to see my chickens standing statue still. When I walked outside with the dog, within 5 seconds a hawk flew over my yard. I know they are out there, but that’s the first time that has happened. I don’t want any chickens to go missing.....

    The largest egg yet

I didn’t weigh it, but IF I get another one, I’ll give it a shot. I’m thinking it was our EE we named Olympia.

    The largest egg yet

Not sure which of my girls produced the largest egg yet, but it’ll be interesting to see if it’s a double yolk. The green is the usual size or a little smaller... today, this monstrosity happened.

    I have an egg eater.

I’m no expert, but I’m unsure if you mean they sleep and lay in the nest boxes? Just want to clarify, cause that could be a problem. Also, instead of mixing your calcium in with your feed, provide that in a separate area. Scratch also shouldn’t be mixed in with feed. Spread that stuff on the...

Review by 'Marinefam2053' in article 'Accessorizing Your Run- How to Make Your Run More Fun For Your Chickens'

I love your ideas! I’ve recently expanded the outdoor space for my girls, but want to include fun things for them as well. Their run isn’t big enough for any extended amount of time locked up. I think the stairs is a great idea as well, I have extra scraps of wood that I could easily utilize!

    Stopping the aggressive pecking

I’ll attach a picture, but I know for a fact that she is a pullet.

    Stopping the aggressive pecking

I’ve mentioned this before, but now it’s like a game for my only Rhode Island Red. I’ve figured out when I let them out in the morning to just spread some mealworm treats and I’m safe. Now, just walking into the yard, she runs toward you, most of the time I have to just pick her up. Today when I...

    Pullet sounds

No, that’s what’s weird to me. She’s 28 weeks old Barred Rock. I had just let everyone out and dodged my pecking chicken, and hear the high pitched noise. I literally had to turn around and walk back to see who it was.

    Pullet sounds

Have you ever heard your girls make a honking sound? Like a squeaky toy? Just curious, cause that was a new one for me today.

    Should I be doing more?

This is the one that has given one egg. She has also fallen victim to the feather pulling in my group, as well as a few others. As a result, I’ve changed some of there outdoor spaces, making it much larger and adding more watering stations etc. I didn’t think she was egg bound, but have thought...

    Chicken Squawking from Roost.

Mine have only become vocal either before or after (and at times both) laying their eggs. It’s quite comical to me when they do this.
