Wowsa!! So many cute chickie pics!
Mine are hatching!!
Almost done though. I think there is about 20 chicks squishing together in the brooder, or in the 'bator or almost hatched. Of my 8 shipped Serama's, I had 5 make it to lock down, 4 have hatched and the last one is working on it...
Ah Ha! So that is why my chicks get too dry sometimes in the Brinsea! Thanks yinepu. Usually if I run water through a straw into the bottom of the bator throughout the pip to hatch stage, it does well.
So, my chickies are on the kvmommy schedule. sigh. Long wait to go!
Right now my two hatchery quality buff orpingtons are broody, and my SQ blue orpington is pretending to be broody for hours at a time, but not all the time, (maybe because the BO steals her eggs?) I only have one BO separated out into a broody pen, maybe I should make another nesting box so the...
I placed my broody hen into the just made chicken tractor, where she continues enjoying the broody process. (to each their own) Mean while, back in the communal nest boxes, peace reigned for all of 36 hours, when two more hens went broody. So I am getting NO eggs, and the other hens, the...
I've had a decent hatch rate with shipped eggs, and I've had them come from Tennesse to California. And Bargain is a very reputable breeder, I'd buy from her if I could. Hope your replacement eggs do well!
Looks like one of my BO is broody. Good thing I'm working on a new chicken pen, she...
That's why I love the goose, she talks back! We have the best conversations.
My eggs haven't hatched yet.
but I guess that is ok, I still have the easter hatch camping in the brooder box at night, which reminds me, I best go bring them in.
Candled last night in the hopes of removing eggs -- this stacking in the 'bator is not for me, and drat it, all of my eggs look good, except for 2 serama eggs which look like they quit. (and what is the point of removing serama eggs, it isn't like they take up space!)
I had this problem with the olive eggs too - could see through the dark brown eggs better than the olive ones... assumed it had to do with the colors in the light. I do hope you have a good hatch this time, kvmommy!
I use to weigh the eggs and watch the incubator like a hawk... now a...
Candled my eggs... Was surprised to see veins, since I've not ever tried to candle on day 4 before. The shipped serama eggs look awesome!!! Out of 8 eggs, 6 are growing, one looks clear and the other one has a denser shell so . All of my home grown eggs look pretty good, not that I stared...
Nah, won't , life happens!
I'd consider doing turkeys if we weren't still burned out on turkey from Thanksgiving!!! Guess buying the big bird was too much!
love the orpington broody look.
I know someone who used an oven light and a pie tin to incubate two eggs... she had a 100%...
Hope you have a good hatch! So fun to see the waterfowl babies.
Love the matching pet look!
hmmm, pictures of the eggs?? really? Guess I should go read up on all the essentials of this hatch.
ok, pictures for best or worst hatch rate. Will have to snap a picture then.
Well, I'm in! Got some shipped eggs yesterday... pulled out 18 fresh eggs from the 'frig and set whatever else laid between then and now, and ummm, I'll count them later.
Guess I'll be in the late hatcher section but since Java Girl set some about the same time as I, all is fine.
