This is why you should have a covered run

Well you just lost your money! I was just out with my chickens. They were all alive and fine. I went to get their snack came back outside Upon walking into the enclosed run wondering why they weren’t visible I notice a hawk 20 feet away from me! The little pullet was laying there dead. The...

Please help, 5mth old pullet going down fast!

I did find a goldenrod plant outside the run growing against the fencing. Doesn’t look like any was eaten. I read it would take a lot to harm them. Always a chance it was that I guess? She was drinking water in bathroom when I left her, 30 min later I went back and she was gone.

Please help, 5mth old pullet going down fast!

I feed all flock and recently started mixing in nutrena feather fixer and chick grower 20% because some are molting. They get sunflower seeds or watermelon/cucumbers later in the evening after they’ve had all day to eat their feed and free range. They have constant oyster shell and egg shell...

Please help, 5mth old pullet going down fast!

I tried again. Assuming I’m in the right spot I got to what felt like a second right muscle area/opening. Nothing was between these two spots.

Please help, 5mth old pullet going down fast!

My broody hen hatched her. Her sister is laying. And I don’t have any new birds. She is the only one at this point showing any signs of anything wrong. But I know they are good at hiding some illnesses.

Please help, 5mth old pullet going down fast!

Yes, and it was. It may have been empty yesterday and it just looked full from her neck bone curving outward. It’s very misleading.

Sorry forgot to say that when I checked around her vent it was pulsating. Is she possibly egg bound? I have calcium citrate D3 but don’t want to assume she needs it.

Please help, 5mth old pullet going down fast!

I have a 5mth old pullet that 2 days ago seemed fine. Yesterday evening I noticed she was laying in a corner in the yard. I threw some sunflower seeds and she didn’t come. She’s not one I have ever been able to pick up (hatched by a broody) but I tried to pick her up and she didn’t budge until...

    Strange slimy looking white diarrhea

Saw this odd looking poop in the run. I’ve read and looked at so many pics here on BYC til my phone is dying but can’t seem to find anything like this. these are the only odd poops I found, all others look big, nice and healthy. In the pic that has poop on a piece of mulch I was trying to...

This is why you should have a covered run

That is so bizarre! The hawk came back here today. I wasn’t outside so they were safe in the covered run but this time the screen door was shut. I bought a fake owl and put it on a post under the pine tree the hawk was sitting in. Now I’m wondering if I’m terrifying my chickens with an owl right...

This is why you should have a covered run

My chickens weren’t as lucky. I went outside yesterday late afternoon to give them some sunflower seeds and the hens were crazily bocking. Most were able to seek shelter in one of the coops. A few were standing inside my ENCLOSED run, nonstop screaming. Then I see the hawk on the far end of my...

I love your setup and your signs, too cute! I have the same feeder but the chickens tend to pull a lot of the feed out all over the place. Then it rains and it’s a waste. Did you have the issue, and if so, how did you correct the problem?
