Medications and pesticide withdrawal times for layers

Haha I though the same thing, who is out there feeding this stuff to their birds? It's probably large scale farms who would give it orally. You can't possibly dip or dust every bird when you have 100's or 1000's of them.

Medications and pesticide withdrawal times for layers

I read Paulson et al., 1972. Chickens were given 1 oral dose of carbaryl. After 12 days 0.33% of the single 10mg/kg body weight dose was found in the eggs. Less than 1% of the dose seems pretty low to me. Sounds like Farad has gone from allowing tiny amounts of residue to a flat out zero...

I'd love to do that, but I don't have anywhere to put them. 🤦‍♀️ Aside from butchering early, or keeping the goose in my garage I don't know what to do.

    Goose getting beat up

Hey there! I have a small flock of 14 easter Eggers (mostly ameracuana mixes) and a goose that I've raised with them. I didn't have the chicks sexed, so at the moment I have a 50/50 mix of males and females. Tonight I witnessed 2 of my roos attack the goose. They chased her in circles in the...

    3rd batch, very few surviving!

Figured out the classroom issue! The teacher and taped over the air holes in the incubator!! the eggs weren't getting any air circulation! I asked her why she had them taped over, instead of answering me she defended herself saying that two small holes near the fan were not taped. I told her...

    3rd batch, very few surviving!

Hello Guys, hoping you can help me out. I have a flock of 14 black and lavender Orpington girls and one handsome black Orpington rooster! I had one broody girl this spring, so I let her sit on a clutch of 14 eggs. I candled them and there were 8 not fertilized, NONE of the 6 that were fertilized...

ok. So we just butchered some of our roosters (which is how I discovered the mites) and my husband says they were about 10-15lbs each. The ladies will obviously be smaller, probably 7-8lbs.

To Heat or Not to Heat-That is the Question

Wow! I have to say, most people that I have come across in this forum are in areas of the US that don't get the kind of temperatures that we do. I really didn't think Canadians could get away with not heating their coops somehow. I live near Edmonton, and last winter we had spells of -30 with...

Really!!!! that makes me soooo happy!!! I hate creepy crawlies! we already dealt with fleas on our dogs and cats a month ago thanks to the neighbor's dog sharing his bugs with my pets! After washing every possible fabric item in the house that could be put in the washing machine and vacuuming my...

    Newbie to forum - MITES?!

thank you! I currently have a fairly light problem with northern fowl mites, I fortunately caught it fairly quickly. I cleaned the coop thoroughly on Saturday by washing the walls, nesting boxes and roosts with warm soapy water, and I really just wanted to be rid of the buggers so I dusted my...

    liver tumor???

This morning the girls seem totally fine. The comb color changes I saw are not as apparent this morning. Everyone is laying and all are frisky and acting normal. Poops look normal as well. I did worm my flock in April. I'm wondering since I did lose the roo if I should prophylacticly worm them...

    liver tumor???

the poops looked normal today. I will post again tomorrow after. I check their poops again. My roo had the comb color changes first, then I noticed the yellow diarrhea, so I am nervous this is the same disease process.

    liver tumor???

I am quite concerned as now three of the hens he's was with are now showing the same comb color changes. They are still acting normally as of today, but I am unsure of what I am dealing with here. Also, if it is blackhead are their eggs affected?
