    EE/Brahma babies

I have one cockerel and three pullets. Here's to hoping this cockerel has a better attitude than the last one. The last EE roo we had was extremely aggressive.

    EE/Brahma babies

Here are updated pictures of the chicks at 9.5 weeks. I definitely think the first one is a cockerel and the "twins" are pullets. The pure white one I think is a pullet, but the downward curl of the tail feathers have me questioning myself. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!

    EE/Brahma babies

Thank you for your help. I will post updated pictures in a few weeks and hopefully it will be more obvious at that point.

    EE/Brahma babies

Both of our Australorps went broody at the beginning of June so we decided to put some fertilized eggs (EE mom and Brahma Dad) under one of them. The chicks are 4 weeks old and I am thinking we have 3 pullets and one roo. I think the roo is the white chick with speckles on its body and head. Any...

    Swollen eye

The eye is only swollen. There aren't any fluids leaking out of the eye.

    Swollen eye

No sneezing or drainage from the nose. Her eye is the only sign that there is anything wrong.

    Swollen eye

Last night when putting our chickens away for the night we noticed Dot's eye and ear were swollen. Her eye was still swollen this morning and I am wondering what the best way to remedy this issue and what would have caused it?

    Feather loss

    How do you stop that?

    Feather loss

I am trying to figure out if we have a mite/lice problem or if our girls are starting to molt. All of our girls have either bald spots or are showing there fuzzy down in spots. We have one that is particularly bad because she was heavily picked on by our rooster and he made her back and the tops...

    Aggressive rooster behavior

My first question is why will our EE rooster only attack me, but he doesn't seem to have an issue with my daughters or husband? My second question is what is the weird noise he continues to make any time I come close to him after he attacks me and I knock him away? The noise is kind of a weird...

    "Olive egger" egg color

The hatchery sold her to me for her olive eggs because the Easter egger chicks wouldn't be ready for my ship date. The olive eggers weren't listed as a type of chick that they sold, so I didn't do any research on them prior to purchasing her. I am grateful for the eggs, just a little...

    "Olive egger" egg color

My pullets are just starting to lay and I had a suspicion that my Sapphire olive egger wasn't laying olive colored eggs. Today I watched her go into the chicken coop and continued to watch until she came out. I then went and checked the nesting box and found a warm pale brown egg (pictured...

    Eggs of new layers

Eva2020 We have had oysters shells spread in their run and by their food since Monday, right after the first soft eggs were laid. Do you have any other ideas?

    Eggs of new layers

My girls are 19 weeks old and have just started laying this past week. We have two Australorps, a Production Red, a Dominique, a gold laced and silver laced wyandotte, a sapphire olive egger, and two EE's. I don't know which ones are laying, but I had a couple of soft ones initially, then the...

    Aggressive roo

EE are my least favorite boys thus far, personality wise. What part of their personality don't you like?

    Aggressive roo

I have a 9 week old EE roo that started grabbing the neck feathers of my 9 week old pullets. Would he be trying to mate with them already? He seems too young to start doing something like that. Any input would help. Thank you.

    Sexing Easter Egger chicks

Great to hear! I was starting to get worried because of seeing the iridescent tail feathers.

    Sexing Easter Egger chicks

So now I'm starting to question whether Tater tot, my RIR, is a pullet or not. Any thoughts? All of the chicks are 7 weeks old.

    Sexing Easter Egger chicks

I was thinking that the colored tail feathers might be a sign of a male, but then my RIR pullet started to have some colored tail feathers too, so I thought there might still be a chance for Brownie to be a pullet.
