If you have a few roosters and 9 hens then all of your eggs should be fertilized. It would never hurt to put an unfertilized egg in an incubator....

yes there is a breeding trio but it usually consist of one female and two males because the male is the one who sits on the eggs.
The longest i would let mine go is a day/Two days tops. I have heard of people never turning their eggs and getting succesful hatches.
It should take about a week before they are steady on their feet. As for food, Mine didn't start to eat until she was almost a week old.
