The silkie's a hen. I once had a bunch of silkie chicks and the male ones were MUCH bigger.

Hens have curved hackle feathers, roosters have pointy.
That's either a pullet or a cockerel. Does it have spurs?
Well, I'm doing one on does a chick grow faster if it has a hen mama, or just stays in a brooder.

Congrats! I love that this is a community that treats the first egg from a chicken as a "congratulations" scenario. The egg is so cute and tiny :)

I agree. This is a good way to get a mama hen to accept the chicks, if you use day-olds.
