Seramas will hatch their own eggs and make very good mommies. My one girl started to brood this spring, took her a year for the mother instinct.

    Hatching Serama eggs

I just got 17 serama eggs and 5 have a dislodged air cell. 12 look good. Should I place them under one of my larger broody hens or incubate? The other girls are messing with the broody ones and afraid they will abandon the eggs mid cycle which happened to me last month with other eggs I tired to...

2 Day old chick with splayed/spraddled legs and curled toes.

My poor little chick with the splay legs, I had to put him down. He was so raw at the hocks even with the padding. The attempts with rehab for him failed and he was much smaller then the others was not eating. I wanted to thank you for your help.

What sex are these Easter Eggers?

It is hard to sex this breed to me.. I can usually tell by the tail on the Australorps and the GLW at this age but I never raised the EE till now. Looking at the combs, male are lager combs, have 3 rows of bumps and more red in color, female have one row of bumps on their combs and dull in...

What sex are these Easter Eggers?

That is what I thought, but then I began to read the posts and I started questioning... I hatched Australorps and GLW and they were very easy to sex, these are much harder.. I was hoping for 5 girls since I just lost 3 of my Australorps to a red fox last week and I am not allowed to have roosters
