    Chickens in St. Charles, MO???

Hi Everyone! I'm looking to move to the St. Charles, MO area. I don't know much about the area, can anyone who does live there or is familiar with the area tell me where chickens are allowed? Names of cities and subdivisions would be great. Thanks!

    Understanding Chicken Math

I do have the paperwork, but it doesn't matter to him. He's suing anyway.

    When do chickens molt?

My easter Eggers quit all together for the winter, but my black sex link and Rhode Island red laid right through their molt.

    When do chickens molt?

They generally molt in the late fall or winter. I have two hens that are sisters and hatched the same day (Jan. 15, 2014)... one molted in October and the second one just finished molting this week. My first to molt was in early September.

    When do chickens molt?

Anyone know why a 2 year old RIR would not have molted yet? Her feathers are so tattered, I wish she'd just molt already!

Chickens roosting in enclosed run, will not go into coop

I guess I'm gonna have to. I just wish they would stop being so darn stubborn!

Chickens roosting in enclosed run, will not go into coop

I've been putting my "Ameriauna Club" to bed now for two weeks and they still prefer to sleep on my deck! So I'm still scooping the poop off my deck and I'm worried about my birds getting sick or injured from exposure. The goofy little things don't know what's best for them!

What is wrong with this chicken?

It's very normal, it's a glitch in the "coloring" process that sometimes happens as the egg gets its color on the way out of the bird. I have a bird that almost always gives me speckled eggs, and the speckles are bumpy. Nothing worry about. Calcium levels have nothing to do with it. Just...

Official BYC Poll - Which aspect of keeping chickens do you enjoy the most?

The way I look at it, my eggs are free. I built my coop and bought my supplies and feed for my pet chickens, just like you would for a dog or cat.... so the eggs are a bonus! I still would have my chickies even if they didn't lay eggs!

What is wrong with this chicken?

Sorry, I know that last article was long. My best guess is that you may be dealing with Newcastle or Chicken and Turkey Coryza Causative Agents: Haemophilus paragallinarum and Bordetella avium if you want to check those out specifically.

What is wrong with this chicken?

Here's an article I found about common respiratory issues with fowl, I hope there's some good info for you to use: Small poultry flocks are susceptible to a number of respiratory infections. Some of these produce extremely mild illness while others may result in a high number of deaths...

No chickens allowed. Need help please.

I had an anonymous tiff with a neighbor that complained of our chickens. A lot of time people are just afraid of what they don't understand. The way I snuffed out the debate and got the Home Owners Association on my side was to present facts about my chickens that cleared up confusion and...

What is wrong with this chicken?

I'm no expert, but it seems like a cough to me. Maybe try and investigate a respiratory illness.

Chickens roosting in enclosed run, will not go into coop

Any idea how long I'm gonna have to put them to bed? My 3 Americaunas have been sleeping on my back deck, which makes for a really crappy morning out there, literally. So yesterday I added an extension to the coop, giving them their own roost and plenty of room. Am I gonna have to put them...

    Chicken Feather Crafts?

Anyone out there have any good ideas for a craft with their chicken feathers? Mine are molting right now and the feathers are so beautiful I couldn't just let them blow away!

Hen with an 11 week chick?

Hey all, I have a Barred Rock who went broody on me with fake eggs. While she was broody, I introduced a 7 week old chick to the flock. I tried to break her of her broodiness by getting rid of the fake eggs, but instead, she took the 7 week old as her chick. The chick is now 11 weeks old...

Official BYC Poll - Which aspect of keeping chickens do you enjoy the most?

I voted for companionship, but a close 2nd for me would be for their beauty, and living in a subdivision, having them certainly makes my yard stand out!

    When do chickens molt?

Anyone think that being broody might be an advantage for getting through the molt faster since she's not spending her protein on eggs right now?

Missouri Right to Farm Amendment and Chicken Ordinances

Typical cop mentality, they pick on whomever they can just to assert their authority. I think you're dealing with a real jerk that doesn't know anything about the new law or chickens. I would welcome a day in court just to shut him up. And if he still keeps bothering you about it, keep a...
