    Looking for seramas in AZ

Looking to make a Serama connection in AZ. I am in Phoenix. Not looking for breeding. I simply love those little characters. Perhaps a breeder has some they need to be rid of? Can take one rooster, several hens. Priced reasonably? ernie 85017 at cox dot net

    Seeking Seramas in Phoenix area

I am having a hard time finding "affordable" seramas. I don't want fancy breeding, and there must be sellers out there who have hens they need to get rid of. Any one know of any? Thanks

    Bully rooster

Reading all the posts I could find here on fighting, I read that bullying is a possibility. My two serama roosters came to me at the same time, with the ladies. They got along so well, I thought I got lucky. Then Spring came. They fought, dominance was established, but the top rooster...

    Need Small Pelleted Layer Feed

I have seramas and need a small pelleted layer feed. The only one I have found so far is Eggland's Best, and I can only get it by mail order. Chewy sells it for almost $40 for 40 lbs. Can anyone offer some names that would be at my local feed store? THANKS!!!!

Need brainstorming, girl with rhythmic head movement

My little serum developed a limp and lower leg paralysis, there was another thread about her and the possibility of Mareks. She is isolated, eating well, and has learned a modified walk with her bad leg. She can get pretty fast! Last night I noticed her wagging her head rhythmically for a good...

    Broken leg? Sprain?

One of my little seramas started limping two days ago. I felt her legs thoroughly. She had been favoring the right leg, but when I felt her lower left leg, above the toes, she pulled away. So that confused me. I felt no crepitus, or swelling on either leg. Now I am certain it is the right...

    Weak legs, poor balance

I can't figure out what is going on with my girl. Black sex link, 3 yrs old, quit laying a few months ago, strong, healthy and the dominant hen. Her name, thus, is Pushy Broad. Yesterday morning I found her on the ground, having stayed there all night. It could be that she stayed on the...

    Funny tasting eggs revisit

I have read all the funny tasting egg threads, but still can't figure this out. I have two new girls who have now been laying for a month or so. One other gal is at least two years old. Yes, I should keep better records. The eggs were fine and tasty until just recently. I mostly have been...

    Old girls vs New girls

My flock dwindled and I was down to 2 girls. I brought in 2 more girls, just at point of lay. They started 1-2 weeks after they got here. Since the new girls are here , the old girls are not laying. I had put up a light\ to get them going again, and they responded well. The light is still...

    Eye/eyelid problem

Patty, an ameraucana, about 3 yrs old, wormed regularly, laying well, no other problems noted, has a strange thing going on with her eyelids. Where the eyelids usually hug the eye close to the colored part, the forward part of the lids is stretched open, for lack of a better description...

    Not emergency: Need necropsy opinions

Sorry there are no photos, I was so sad I lost Big Mama, it never occurred to me to take pictures. I lost Big Mama a few days ago to what I think might have been cancer. Or is this what happens when they are old and die? Big Mama was 4 years old, a golden sex-link, good layer, except for...

    Repeated crop impaction

A month or so ago I did crop surgery on Maxine with the help of the info posted here. I was proud of myself and she was such a good patient! I put her back out and she started to regain the weight and was doing well. I noticed she was having watery poops with just a little bit of formed poo in...

    Crop Surgery Follow Up Question

Maxie's crop surgery turned out well, she returned to her friends (not without some bullying) and has gained some weight! She looks good. THanks to all of you for your educational posts and answers to questions. However, she is still having water poops. There may be a little bit of solids...

Post op Crop Surgery Update AND QUESTION

After a couple of worried days, Maxine is on the mend. She has gradually progressed up to wet feed and really goes at it. She is still squirting her poo but there are more bits of solids in it, and, uh, sort of gravy, not clear. I toss the towels from the bottom of her cage into the washer...

    Hen on the warpath

I have 7 girls, the two large ones have been the dominant hens. They can be downright mean! Violet and Lily came together when I got them, and always slept together on the perch. Lily has been higher in the pecking order than Violet. The other 3 are at the bottom of the pecking order...

Hi, I need the experts help. One of the BYC members helped me a year ago when Lily lost her eye. One-Eyed-Lily is fine today. Great people here! Maxine (she and her sisters are named after the Andrews Sisters) had crop surgery on Tuesday afternoon. By me. I am amazed I did it. She was...

    Please help: hen or cock?

I couldn't figure which forum part to put this in, so here it is. Someone threw a baby rooster over my fence, likely because I have chickens and they thought I would take care of it and they were too lazy to take it to the feed store to find a home. Don't get me started. I can't decide if...
