    What breeds are friendliest?

I just offloaded two RIRs and one barred rock that were picking on one of my buffs. What breeds tend to be the most docile, yet good layers??

    Fishy tasting eggs

I've got at least one hen laying eggs that taste like fishy, not fresh fish! They are in a run, and all they eat is Purina Layena Plus, and a little corn, but most eggs taste fantastic! The bag says the feed contains flaxseed, which I read on here can cause that. thoughts???

    Start Laying

I've got my nest boxes block because I read here that they would roost in there if I didn't. They're about 17 weeks now. Should I keep the boxes blocked until they start laying in the coop, or open them up now??

Chicks won't coop up @ night!

My 10 week old hens go in and out of their coop all day, but won't go in by themselves at night. We have to put them in every night, even after dark...how do we train them?!?!?

My chicks are 6 weeks old

Can I put them out in their coop without a heat lamp? It's around 40 at night, and 50-60 during the day, and they have most of their adult feathers. Also, after I let them out in their run, should they have water available in the coop, or just outside?

    Newbie from Western Washington

Hi, all! Just got our first ever chicks on Sunday. The home we bought last March has an existing chain link dog run, which we are converting to their run. We are covering it with 2 by 4 welded wire, which we're also putting under the perimeter. Someone on here said chain link won't keep...
