Has anyone made an automatic watering container? Maybe one made out of a 5 gallon bucket that hangs or sits off the ground where it can't get so muddy? I love the ideas everyone has for feeders, and I'm planning on making at least one for our coop, but I need a way to keep cleaner water outside...
This is one of my girls! Her clutch is so big, but she won't get off of it for me to count, OUCH! Good protective mama! She's currently in the back of a pickup truck so at least I know I'll be able to collect all the babies when they hatch. There's no way they're getting out without my help...
I want to make my girls some awesome high roost spots where they will feel safe and comfy. Would some of you who have high roosting areas please post pics of your roosts so I can get an idea of how to arrange mine? I'm going to have a very high roosting area that will be long and narrow. The...

Has anyone ever had a hen that just won't stop sitting? I have inherited all these new chickens (totally free range, never been cooped, but we're working on building one) and most of the girls would get broody on the ground under something and then three weeks later we'd have babies!! This one...
So I inherited a holey (literally) coop on this great piece of property. It was being used as storage for car parts and seemed like it would have been cat's wet dream had we just emptied it and stuck some birds in. I don't even know if they would have been contained by it! There was nothing...
I have inherited a property that has an enormous amount of chickens (to me), probably 40 or more hens with over 30 chicks and 5 or more roosters! I'm told they are Burmese (how do I tell)? They range freely over the property and the neighbor's properties and will eat anything. They fly very well...
