    Buff Brahmas Roo vs Hen

I got 2 Buff Brahma "pullets" on 4/18 and they were 2ish weeks old at that point. I've been thinking they're roos from the start but I keep trying to have faith.

    First Night in Coop

Well, our coop & attached run are complete and they'll be spending their first night outside. I'm beyond nervous but mostly because they don't like the ramp too much & we can't seem to get them all into the coop. So, it looks like they'll be spending the night in their run. Luckily, it's...

    Welsummer Chick

I got it on 4/18 and at that point, it was probably a week or so old. I've posted about it before because it was worrying me. It doesn't seem to have grown in size, just some more feathers, which are puffed up half the time. It enjoys the heat lamp more than the rest. It was suggested to me that...

    Automatic coop door

Question! Do any of y'all have the automatic door (solar powered) and do y'all think it's a worthy investment? We're building our coop this weekend so I'm trying to decide if I should purchase one of just go for the old fashioned door. Thanks in advance!!

    Black Copper Maran

Typically, who feathers out first...male or female? I got 2 on 4/9 and they were around the same age, if not the same hatch date...only a few days old when I got them. Now, one of them has lots of feathers (tail & wing) but the other doesn't. It's got some feathers on the wings but no tail feathers.

    New EE babies!

Well, I went to the store & came home with 3 more EE babies! This is my first year with chickens so I'm a newbie. But I'm kinda nervous about them being in the same brooder as my other chicks, which range from 2-5 weeks in age. Should I separate them or just watch closely?

    Welsummer "pullet"

Hey folks! I bought this baby on 4/18 & it was sold as a Welsummer pullet. However, it doesn't have the eyeliner that the ladies normally do. But I've also seen various posts about how there are exceptions to that rule. So whatcha think? Is Churches a fella? First two photos are from when I...

    Little Welsummer Chick

So, I've got a little Welsummer, whom my fiancé named "Churches." I got her exactly a week ago & at that point, she was maybe a day old. She's the smallest of our group of new babies, which consists of 3 EEs that were born on 3/23 & 2 Black Copper Marans who were born somewhere inbetwen the...

    Newbie here.

Hey there! My name is Caitlyn. I've wanted chickens for a while but have finally taken the plunge. I picked up a total of 8 birds over the weekend. Some were born around 3/25 & the others were born a day or two before 4/9. I've already suffered two losses & I'm devastated...wondering if I'm...

    I'm new to this.

Hi there! I'm a new chicken momma & I'm having a tough day. I acquired 8 birds over the weekend (3 of which were born the last week of March & 5 that were born within a day or two of April 9th). I had checked with the farmer and was told that as long as the bird were within a 2 week age-frame, I...
