So my mix batch of 6 out of 11 eggs (4 silkie bantam eggs and 2 ISA cross) started hatching last night and hatched sometime today. 3 out of 6 have hatched, both ISA Xs and 1 silkie. I did a quick gentle candle of 2 out of 3 of the unhatched silkie eggs and both were still alive.
Just 2...
So I have 7 chicks finally after a semi-successful hatch and I am just wondering what these 2 are. I reckon the striped one is a welsummer pullet and the caramel chick might be a welsummer cockerel but I cant be sure.
1st photos from day 3-4
2nd is them just under 4 weeks
(Sorry if the photos...
So have had a really bad hatch and lost 17 out of 18 eggs but the last one might be gone to. So the last egg has very visible blood vessels, like blood vessels at day 16-18 but it has not changed for 3 days, no growth of them or the embryo. I can't see any movement (I havent looked to hard for...
It was hatching just fine, was still moving and chirping. It only needed a bit of assistance at one point so I made the hole sizably larger, there was no bleeding in the membrane or anything, found it dead this morning😥.
I have no idea why it died, if I could maybe get an opinion would be...
So one of the 3 eggs that I have left has finally piped, it was going well but the chick has seemed to turn around with its foot on the pip site. Just wondering does the chick need any assistance or should I just leave her be. (Its been about 6-8 hours since the first pip, should I leave her for...
So basically I am haveing excruciating bad luck with my hatching (have posted on this before) and was just wondering how far along this chick had developed before dieing (Mother hen accidentally stepped on the egg) I took this photo on the 27th of Jan.
Sorry if its hard to tell, might not be a...
So im having really bad luck with my hatch atm (like really bloody bad), started with 18 eggs, 6 were eaten by the broody, put the remaining amount under my other broody. Candled them 1 day ago, found 7 dead (she couldn't fit all of them, all stone cold), then just today she stepped on one of...
So one of my Salmon favorole crosss, loves to be broody. She is broody a lot. But the problem is when she has eggs under her (usually about 8-12, she is quite large so they all fit fine), she will eat about 6 of them and its always at about day 11-14 she will eat them. This has happened twice...
They are quite a large breed and the both are bearded (doesnt matter to much) I was thinking they were a leghorn cross or something like that but they are bit big for a leghorn and most other breeds that look similar are not bearded or they are no where near as big. They weigh about 3-4kg each.
