    West of England pigeon-need advice

I rescued a beautiful boy 3 years ago after he was found in a backyard very weak. He’s been happy and healthy in an outdoor aviary with other pigeons and a few chickens that are healthy as well. He has been itching his face and has some feather loss on his head and face, but I can see new...

    Doves outdoors?

hello My friend found a white dove in her garage and has it caged indoors attempting to find its owner. So far, no luck. Can these birds live outdoors in MI winters year round? I’ve considered adopting it, but it would be in my outdoor flight pen with my pigeons. Any info is appreciated.

    What to feed baby mallard

So here I am minding my own business and my husband comes in with a baby mallard. It was alone in the canal and when it tried to approach some adult ducks, it was attacked. Hubby retrieved it from under a parked pontoon and figured it needed help. I've got it under a heat lamp and it appears...

    Advice on routine worming

I need some clarity on what I should be worming my chickens with and how often. I don't have a problem that I know of and my birds are healthy, but I don't want one. They have a large dirt bottom pen and free range the yard almost daily. Thanks for any input :) Karen

    Help with Tylan dosing please

My favorite speckled Sussex is coughing and congested. The tylan box says 50mg/ml injection. I don't want to screw this up. I have her separated in a crate with towel over it and in my heated barn. She's alert, but feathers puffed up and quiet.....not her usual sassy Sussex self :( Thank...

    Weak legs in polish

I have an approx. 5-6 month old buff laced polish that we thought was just lazy....she'd rest on her hocks when she ate at the feeder. Never seemed to have a problem getting around and often see her running the yard. In the last few days, she's been especially weak although still eating and...

    Help! Found on hwy overpass

Found this guy alone on the road not far from a lake here in MI. He ate a worm from my hand. Have him under the heat lamp now and he's making himself right at home until I can get him to the wildlife rehab in the morning. Any ideas?

    Hard stool on butt

I received my chicks in the mail the other day and all look and act very happy:) However, I noticed some hard poo stuck to the butts of some of them. I washed their back sides with warm water on a towel. All are eating and drinking fine. I am feeding "flock raiser". Should I be worried?

EE on strike? For a year!

So my EE started laying around 30 weeks if I remember correctly and laid a beautiful green egg every day for about a year. All of a sudden...nothing! Last fall was when she went on strike and has not laid an egg since. She does not have bugs and has been wormed twice since then. She eats...

    Feather hair clips

Feather hair clips.....how can I make them? I am not super crafty, but my 10 yr old daughter has to come up with a "product" to sell at market day at school in the next few months. We have a few molting birds and since feather hair extensions are all the rage right now, I thought this would be...

    Help with snake identification please-PIC

This little guy was found by my son in Grandma's yard today. As you can see, he is a blueish color and black/grey. We are in Michigan and the only snakes I've seen around here are garters, but they are usually a yellow/green with black/grey. He had a good size bulge in the middle which we...

    Older hen's fertility

A friend gave me some "fertile" eggs for my broody to hatch. The eggs came from chickens that are older, ranging in age from 7-11 years old. Only 1 out of 7 eggs hatched and the rest were just liquid when I finally opened them up with no sign of development. So my question is this....does a...
