My images are not appearing in the post. Instead I see a click-able little blue square. This square appears no matter if I use the upload from my computer option, Photobucket or if I link to the images on my BYC account. This just started as all of my previous posts have displayed the images...
On April 1, 2012 we hatched seven eggs in our home made incubator. Three eggs were from our little bantam Elkie and our EE rooster Louie. 131 days later (18 weeks) the little brown bantam has started to lay eggs. She had hid them up in the hay loft of our barn all the way into the corner where...
A little bantam egg from our misfit hen Elkie was hatched on April 1. On Wednesday August 14 the hen who hatched from that egg laid her first green egg a mere 135 days from being an egg herself.

Our bantam hen Elkie went broody on the same day that we hatched 7 chicks in our home made incubator. Since she had just survived a hawk attack we thought it would be safe for her to stay in the nest box for awhile. She was sitting on 2 of the eggs from our White Plymouth Rock hens. In the batch...
We hatched 7 eggs on April 1 2012. It was our first attempt using our own eggs and my home made incubator. The eggs had been stored in the fridge and are from two young pullets just under a year old and one bantam pullet only 8 months old. Our EE rooster is also just under a year.
We started our first batch of eggs (14) at 8pm, Sunday March 11,2012. They are in my home built incubator. So far everything is well. I’m turning the eggs 3-5 times per day so they can rest on the opposite side from the previous night. The eggs are on their sides. Temp is steady at 99.5°F...
This egg was laid today by one of our two White Plymouth Rock hens. It is truly HUGE!
The egg on the left is a Jumbo egg in a carton for Jumbo eggs. The lid won't even close because of the massive egg on the right. It feels like a hand grenade when you pick it up.
Left to right - Massive...
This is Louie, he was a surprise roo in a batch of EEs, Barred Rocks and Cinnamon Queens. He's loud and proud at 5 months old. We just introduced 4 two month old chicks to him and he's "taken them under his wing". He always comes when you call him and if you aren't paying attention he just may...
This little girl is the subject of another thread A little mystery chick with feathered legs. What could she be? but just thought all the photos in the same place would be easier to look at. She's sweet, bold and little as can be. I wish I had six more just like her...
We got this little mystery chick from a local breeder when we picked up some EE chicks. I will try and get some better photos of her, she's half the size of the EE chicks that are about the same age. (approx. 2 weeks?)
