    Button quail call question

Do the males ever make that same "wheep wheep wheep wheep wheep" call? Or do they just do the growl with the single sounds following? Booger just started doing this today or something very similar. It scared the bejeebers out of me because I thought she was hurt.

Any guesses on color of button?

Here is the incredibly insane Booger in his new happy home. So what color are we leaning towards? He is about 4 weeks old. My camera made him a little more yellow than he is - there is a bit of blue/silver tint to his feathers also.

Hatched my first coturnix - I'm in love

I got some eggs a few weeks ago from Ftmeyersquaillady - or however you spell it and 8 of them hatched last night - What completely friendly little guys! They are so calm compared to my singleton button qauil (booger) I have one white and the rest I believe are jumbo browns and reds! YAY for me!

wheep wheep wheep said the lonely quail

Sigh so far only one of my button quail has hatched and I may be lucky to get the one but she is so lonely. She keeps saying wheep wheep wheep, then gets quiet for a bit and it all starts over again. I had some temp drops the last two days before they were due to hatch so the one that did hatch...

Seriously looking into raw feeding but need ways to cut costs first

I have been looking at rawfeeding our 5 dogs but haven't started yet because from what I figure I need 3.5 to 5.1 lbs of meat per day. Those of you that rawfeed already can you share where you get your meat and anyways I can make this affordable? I have looked at different sites and joined the...

Dog mildly sick - suggestions until the vet opens

Tucker is a 15 month old cavalier king charles X bichon. Neutered and was just at the vets two weeks ago for updated shots. Healthy except for a few fleas. Well about Tuesday of this week he threw up three times in the middle of the night, then he threw up Wednesday morning and again on...

Teaching "shake" to a goober headed dog

So I've been working for three weeks on teaching "Sparky" to "shake". He just doesn't get it. His brother, mom and dad all learned within a day what to do. I have them "model" it, and I work with him separately. He is 15 months old and I'm beginning to wonder about his brain powers. He is just...

    Craigslist funny

I am thinning my muscovy flock down (way too many drakes ) so Iput an ad on craigslist. Trying to draw attention I titled it "Save a turkey, buy a muscovy" and then described the ducks in full in the ad. Well I just got a reply asking me about the turkeys I have for sale

Since everyone else is sharing new critters... KITTEN!

Picked this little girl up at the animal swap yesterday. She is a complete love-bug and is willing to take on my rowdy dogs. She was raised on a petting zoo and smells like ferret or goat, can't decide which. She was handled a lot though and has clean ears and no fleas. She never seems to stop...

Red rooster and his friend the hen - what breed are they?

My husband picked a trio of birds up at an auction thinking he was getting me three laying hens ( he wasn't paying attention and it wasn't one of the cages I said I would want ) Anyhow it was two young roosters and a crossbeak hen. They are nice birds, "full grown" but not filled out yet. I'm...

    My poor broody Sylver

I have a little frizzle cochin/silkie hen that is an extreme broody. I didn't want chicks out in the yard this summer so I kept taking her eggs away. I finally let her keep two which magically overnight became 5 Anywho, I candled them a couple of nights ago and one was pipped internally. Last...

Just hatched some keets and would like to know about the colors

I hatched 4 keets yesterday and would like to know more about their colors. They came with some mystery swap eggs and I know nothing about guinea colors although I do know somethings about their behavior when they grow up

Yes - another button quail question

So my lil' guy is growing and changing unbelievably fast. My concern now is his wings seem to stick out from his sides a little bit. Is this normal? Hes is about 1 1/2 weeks old.

    two questions about button quail

Had a singleton hatch so far. There were only two eggs that developed so not necccisarily counting on the second one to hatch. I had to help the one out of his shell this morning - completely stuck and my humidity is terribly low in the incubator. I can get it up to the 60's but it drops within...

Sudden onset of Heartburn - what causes it?

For the last couple of weeks no matter what I eat it seems to cause heartburn. Anyone have an idea of why? I've never before been a person who got heartburn except maybe every few years. I will probably go to the Dr. but am trying to wait until October when I can have a physical again.

    Apparently I'm a big baby

But I got stung by a bee a little bit ago and it HURTS!!! My 17 year old gave me a fake "ahhhh poor mommy" I haven't been stung by a bee since I was really little. I was just out with Sparky and it landed in his head fur and he was trying to shake it out. I *gently*, like a breeze blew on it...
