I always stress over putting the chicks out the first time. Hubby is always "urging" me to get them out of the house, but it is hard letting them go. Then, after the first night of worrying, I take a deep breathe and think, why in the world didn't I just put them out? There have never been any...
I have kept ducklings, poults, goslings and chicks together before. Ducklings tend to be a little hyperactive, and if you have the means to separate them, your chicks will probably thank you.
You could always ask where they order chicks from, and if they would let you order what you want, to come in with the next shipment. I have done this, and it saves shipping cost and sometimes because of the bulk quantities TSC gets, your chicks may be cheaper.
I don't give mine grit until they start treats. Normally you don't need grit with starter. Sometimes it even says on the starter bag that you don't need additional grit.
Hello all,
I was wondering... since dark is silver, and partridge is gold, Could you let them interbreed and still get silvers and golds. Or is there other weird genetics going on?
I ask because I would like LF darks, but I notice the gene pool is shallow. Could a partridge roo from different...
Hey all,
It seems like I always miss the auctions I want. What I am looking for are hatching eggs for:
Dark Brahma LF
Bourbon Red Turkey
BBS Silkies
I am not looking to show, but I do want eggs from decent stock. I am in no rush (or at least I am willing to be patient about it I am willing...
One of my puppy homes backed out, so I have 2 Salt and Pepper males available. They are both good boys who have started crate/potty training. They sleep alone through the night (11pm - 6am). The one on the left we have been calling Deuce. He is more laid back than his brother who we have been...
We have two black miniature schnauzers. We had a litter of 4 puppies who are now 5 weeks old, one of which we are keeping. In July we pick up my Mastiff baby.
I love seeing fluffy's! I can't wait to get mine, they shipped out today, should get them Wednesday. All I have right now is a bunch of teenagers... I miss the baby days.
Chickens don't know how to swim. I learned the hard way. I lost several in the duck's kiddie pool. But that was above ground. They fell in when they tried to sit on the lip to get a drink. You shouldn't have any problems if your pond and pool are flush/ low to the ground.
After months of waiting I finally get my babies next week. Salmon Faverolles, blue and splash silkies, and Bourbon Red turkeys. I'v had their brooders set up for over a month, secretly hoping they would send them early.
They should be here Wednesday. Can't wait!
