I'm just finishing up a hatch. I had 50 eggs at lockdown. They were hatching in groups of 5-6 at a time last night, and my humidity stayed around 60-65% which I was pleased with.
I know it raises during a hatch but didn't think of it when I went to bed, or what it would be in the am when the...
I just can't decide with this bird.
I swear I saw and heard it crow while in with it's hatch mates, but now , not a peep out of it and the others are all outside. Calling all day! It doesn't answer back.
But looking at it, it seems like a hen to me... so a little help here please. lol...
Has anyone done this? I was thinking of setting my Rosetta female up with my Roux Dilute male. They are both beautiful birds and I'm curious if anyone has crossed these 2, and what could we expect.?
One of our Coturnix gave us a beautiful egg almost lavender in color.
I've been interested in learning how to blow them out and preserve the egg for crafts. Has anyone done this?
Here's the egg, the camera did NOT really catch it's true color. It really is more lavender than it looks.
I want to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday!
I know I've made some wonderful friends here and truly feel blessed this Holiday Season.
Go easy on the eggnog
If you travel, be safe!!..

I have a pair of Buttons sharing a cage with 2 Grasskeets.
Yesterday, I catch the male Button taking a bath in the seed dish for the keets! And one keet sitting on the edge of the dish patiently waiting to eat!
Then the Button jumped out and began to preen, eating the seeds that he picked...
I've found 2 eggs now that were broke/emptied. The birds are on wire. (Coturnix)
Do they develop a taste for raw eggs like chickens do or is it just it got broke and drained?
I'm so excited!
My pair have laid their first eggs! I found 2 last night. Their basket had gotten moved, and I went to straighten it only to find 2 eggs in it! Boy was I surprised. LoL! The cage is hung high and I have to tippy toe to see in, so that's why they snuck 2 in before I saw...
Recently one of my Coturnix hens went through what I thought to be egg bound.
Another member here had a similar experience, and it was said that too much calcium can cause egg bound problems too.
Due to the egg being too hard to pass.
So how does one know just how much to give ? And how...
So Many cuties being posted in the past few days!
Congratulations to all the new fuzzy butt's owners!

I have a button right now that has pipped in the bottom narrow end of the shell!
Just in the last few hrs.
I'm wondering if the egg needs turned narrow end up?
Will it be able to hatch ? It seems like the baby wouldn't have room to get out with it like it is.
I do have 4 other pipped...
I have one Coturnix Quail being EXTRA Goofy. lol... And I'm wondering if it's an indication of what sex it could be.
It's a Rosetta... 6 weeks old tomorrow(sat).
When I sit in front of the cage for awhile, just watching everyone... It puffs up and struts around staring at me. it really...
Am I hoping for too much.? LOL!
I have Button Quail Eggs from bot Shelley and Quaillady in the incubator right now.
I would really like to keep them separated at hatch to know what breeder they came from for any ?? I may have later and pairing.
They are fast, and for as tiny as they are...
One of the girls put in some overtime on this one! I would expect to find one grumpy hen, but haven't.
You should have seen the look on Hubby's face when he saw this!
I am so tempted to put it in the bator, but I just started a batch 2 days ago. :-(
And here's a really neat one...
I am getting ready to put our young Quail out in the Aviary this weekend and had a few ??'s.
I know when adding to a cage of any sort that has birds, they need a period of getting used to each other before just putting them in.
But is that the case with a Aviary with no birds in it right...
I'm so excited!
I got 8 baby Jumbo Brown Coturnix this summer, and these are the first eggs from them we have set in the incubator!

Hi Everyone!
I am thinking of making a home made hatcher and was wondering if you had made one if you could share.
Pictures, supplies and how they are made.
I will be ordering Chicken and Quail eggs at the same time and I think a hatcher would come in real handy for future staggard hatches ...
