Ended Official BYC Contest: Worst Chicken Molt Pictures - Fall/Winter 2012

How reassuring! My girls haven't had a proper moult before so to wake up almost overnight with a house full of feathers and my beautiful babies looking like mini-dinosaurs frightened the life out of me - I would send photos but having seen some of the ones you have posted already I'm glad to say...

Hi All! someone was asking for photos of Sussex Buffs. These are my girls: Rosie, Martha, Babs and Issy. I hatched them in an incubator. They are naturally a large breed, tho' mine are bantams.Incredibly friendly, good layers although apt to go broody very quickly. Unfortunately for those wanting...

Bantam's foot facing backwards and getting worse. Anyone help?

My 3 month bantam roo had spraddle leg as a chick, which I treated with some success. Now his leg seems to be twisting gradually and his foot is now facing backwards. My vet thinks it is congenital and says as long as he is not suffering, not to worry. I pad his leg so that it doesn't get sore...

Can a handicapped bantam live with another chicken? Shes so lonely

I too have a handicapped bantam roo. He has been brought up with a little group of four girls and they really look after each other. I think as long as you introduce them carefully (plenty of opportunities to see each other without actual contact) and also make sure that she doesn't miss out on...

Please help! My bantam's leg is injured.

Thank you. OK, deep breath and have another go. Perhaps take an aspirin myself while I'm at it...

Please help! My bantam's leg is injured.

I am new to chickens; my babies were hatched in an incubator where one developed a splayed leg. Thanks to links on BYC I found advice, hobbled him and thought it was fixed. Now, 6 weeks later, his leg seems to have twisted so that the toes face outwards. Vet says he may have had a fracture at...

Can my 12 week bantam have splay leg?

Help anyone. I am new to all this. My bantam had a splay leg as a chick - it was corrected, although he still had a funny waddle when he walked. Now I have come back from holiday to find his 'splay' leg going almost backwards. His appetite is fine but he is finding it very hard to move around...
